Roll racing vs Drag racing?

Was just wondering why so many fello SRT4 racers like roll racing only? I know we have trouble with traction between 1st 2nd sometimes even 3rd and 4th (all you trim owners lol) but I really really enjoy racing from a stop. Makes your adrenalin scream before you even punch the gas from low rev. I dont feel that hole shotting these cars is too hard and if your not so good at it then practice or get street drags. Beating most mustangs is quite easy without roll racing I have found. Just wanted other opinions on this subject. Thanks guys

^^^^Thats the main reason!:stab: even on DR's....slicks is a different story but who's going to be driving everywhere on slicks?

You answered the question in your post  It seems like everyone has been going bigger lately, and bigger is always better! Everyone is making more power and if you can't get traction for the first 3 gears at all on the street even with DR's...what is the point of a dig? Most SRT drivers (especially around here) prefer to roll race for several reasons. 1. Big turbo = garbage traction in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear 2. Roll racing is easier on your whole driveline system 3. SRT driver needs driver mod and wants to hide it...

There are other reasons I am sure but those are 3 big ones around here. Most SRT drivers are newer to racing and have not learned to launch their cars properly or they have a massive turbo.

When you have a big turbo and a lot of bolt ons i would love for you to try to get traction under third gear. You would have to stay out of boost to get traction. Even if you are on the stock turbo with a lot of bolt ons it is still VERY hard to get traction in 1st and 2nd. This is coming from someone that can drive. I've had countless 2.01-2.1 60fts on street tires. Best time on street tires on the stock turbo was a 12.9 and the best time on slicks was a 12.11.

When i went to a bigger turbo (50 trim) I didn't even try to take off from under 60mph on street tires. I would literally smoke the tires from anything under that. I would drop the car into third at 60mph and still smoke the tires.

Boost by gear...im 400hp+ and have very little problems with spinning the tires, with 215 street tires on the car...

also Rhunter nailed it perfectly...srt owners are standing out more as 'rice car drivers' than race car drivers

The argument "My turbo is so massive I cant get traction unless Im doing highway speeds" is an excuse , no different then any other roll racing excuse .

If you want to "Roll Race" thats fine , but dont turn down a dig race , then act like you car is faster than the guy that just offered a proper dig race .
If you cant race from a dig , then just admit your inferiority at a proper race .
When they start doing roll racing at sanctioned racing events , I might start considering it racing . Friendly competition ? Yes . Racing ? No .

Just my opinion .

roll racing is just two ra-tards speedin next to each other. Takes skill to launch a fwd car. Regardless of turbo size. most ppl are like "ppl have ran a 13.8 on a stock srt-4" then that automatically makes them think they will run a really high 13 or really low 14 sec pass. Not that easy go try it. Sorry had to say that most ppl where i live are afraid to race at the drag strip they dont want to find out how bad of a driver they are.

launch your car vs a AWD car... you will never want to dig again. and i rather not break my shit. 60roll. ;-)

Murdered a Suby when I was stock turbo:eveilgrin The first time I raced him he annihilated me so, I practiced my launch & tried him again. He hit the brakes when I reached the top of second (pu$$y)

:/

racing from a dig is certainly more interesting, but i guess its whatever is most convenient at the time. For example, you are driving down the highway to work, some "ra-tard" comes up and wants to run you. Would you stop on the highway and try it from a dig? Theres a time and place for everything.

again why we dont get respect from DOMESTIC CAR OWNERS...instead of everyone worrying about why they have to race from 5th gear because its the only gear you get traction in you should spend money on making the car hook up instead of putting more power in the motor...

Boost by gear
Solid Mounts
Drag Radials

less than $600 and this whole controversy is over

Afterall, what good is 400hp or 200hp if you cant use it...think about it

If your easily beating mustangs from a dig you must be racing the wrong ones. I am a very active drag racer of both bikes and cars. I can drive pretty decent and my fox body will leave all over my srt. I've pulled a 1.6 60ft. On crappy Nitto drag radials. I love both cars and maybe I'm also kinda of unkowledgable on stock turbo cars cause mine has always had a trim. I just know that my srt from a dig against my fox would be laughable

get some tires and stop whining. nothing makes me madder than people wanting to race from a roll. 2-step/wot/boost by gear. problem solved.

because stopping on the freeway is cool.
