i searched but i have no results finding why they would go bad i was driving and my car was acting funny like it was cutting out not getting enough fuel to power my car my gas tank was low (fuel light came on) so i thought it was b/c i dont' have enough gas (i put 93 only in my car) so i get to the gas station fill it up w/ 93 and my car wouldn't start i have it towed to the dealer and i have no codes so they couldn't figure out the problem searched the forum and told them to check the cam sensor and the crankshaft sensor and sure enough that was the problem they fixed that now they have one more problem that isn't gonna cover under the warranty the throttle body position sensor which is gonna come out of my pocket b/c i have a bigger throttle body so why would these sensors go bad what would be the cause of that.

the TPS wiring going bad is a common thing with these cars. Usually it will throw a P 0123 code, but some times it wont. Its caused by bad wiring, either they get frayed and short or the wire on the inside falls apart and creates a bad connection leading to excessive resistance. Normally a good way to really narrow it down is to wiggle to wires and see if it gets worse. The dealer just replaces the whole harness, there are some DIY fixes in the How To section that save you a trip to the dealer. I havnt heard of them going bad again after replacing the harness, just something that alot SRT-4s have gotten. DCX has issued a TSB for the problem as well.

To answer your original question, sensors will go bad naturally. Imagine that you a a plastic block with wires. After a shitload of heating and cooling cycles, combined with the natural vibration of a motor coupled with bumps in the road, you would just give up the ghost, too.

And you have to realize that some parts do come from the factory as a bad part. It happens.
