you guys are too funny. Dude post pics the other day of his home made intake (looks exactly like this one from AEM) and he gets ripped for 3 pages cause it sucks hot air. AEM puts thier name on it and you guys can't spend your money fast enough. It must be the schiznit cause it's made by ricer central AEM.

Well anybody interested in a longer style cold air intake let me know. I will be building a few from stainless steel.
Here is an example of what I make.

That is the one made for the 99-03 mustangs, before I pollished it.

I don't think anyone on this topic ripped on him, I know that I didn't! The reason I willing to pay the extra money for the big name brand "AEM" is that I live in CA and it has a carb #!!! I'm not buying the name because I'm some stupid ricer that has to have AEM stuff, in parts of CA like the Bay area I have friends that have gotten large tickets for aftermarket intakes because they didn't have carb#'s, thats why its worth the extra money to me:D So I won't get any shit from cops down the road:D

Also for everyone else here's a little off topic info:
I know that on alot of supercharged mustangs they have found that having less bends in the intake pipe made more power than the intakes that had the bends into the fender.....and www.chicanesport.com tested several cars and found that in a moving car the temp under the hood wasn't as hot as everyone thought it was, so they made more power with the filter under the hood with one bend, and less power with the CAI going into the fender with 3 bends......so as far as the SRT-4 goes I think the AEM short ram should work fine......I can't wait to get it!

My mouse finger was twitching to order the intake, but I decided to wait & see what else will be offered in the near future. A Short Ram Intake really doesn't do it for me.. Plus I want carbonfiber
I hear ya! I figure if something better comes out I'll just sell the AEM intake and I'll get the better one....thats what credit cards are for:D JK.....

I remember reading that when AEM tried the intake in the fender there was no gain over the short ram!?......I think I read that on this forum a few months ago.

I also remember Mopor saying that they will have a intake thats behind the drivers side headlight, but they didn't say in the fender.

It will be cool when all the aftermarket parts start to flud the market:D

yeah ryan, i'm pretty sure i remember BJ@DCX saying that mopar's intake was gonna place the filter right under the place where you can cut the whole in the hood to get air from the scoop. (which is right around the same place that AEM put their filter)

How much do you think you would charge for one, and any chance of you powder coating it the same red as the Mopar red valve cover? Would you be willing to dyno it if you produce them?

I called AEM and they told me that the CAI doesn't make anything over the short ram. so ur best bet is to get the short ram. and also the way the engine bay is set up the cold air from outside dlows over the engine and the intake area. The nostrils provide all that air.
did AEM happen to mention what products they had planned next for the srt-4?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you think that the hood scope, if you can call it that, is going to ram any air at speed you are wrong. There will be little or no air at the surface of the hood at speed. It would need an inch or two of area seperating the bottom of the scope and the hood to ram any air. You would need to drive the car with a data logger of some sort to actually see which cai made more power. Cai usally make little if no power increases when tested on a dyno.

During R&D for the SRT-4 it was found that making a CAI will require more extensive testing. At this point, AEM does not offer a CAI, but they will offer a SRS for it made power.

Like I said earlier, I think a CAI would be cool, but with all those bends it may lack the HP, that the short ram will make.....Maybe thats why they just made it a short ram?? In a moving car the short ram should work well, and the best part about it for us CA guys is that it has a carb#
