ok so i work at valvolin and was going to flush my sytsem tomorrow but am unsure on what coolant to go with? because i know i would like to run a bit more water in the system with another bottle of water wetter but am just unsure on the coolant part of things. and if i should go with what i have at work or not? and if not how many gallaons would i need to buy for a full flush and to fill her back up do ya think?

the first thing i did when i bought my car was to put regular ol green coolant 75/25 all the time i have been working at dodge the red coolant always rusts i might try that vw coolant or the blue honda stuff i hear they are both good but for now regular ol green

yeah that was what i was thinking about doing tomorrow aswell. just not as much coolant though because i prefer to run more water throught the system. but i just went out to test my coolant and it was to low to check (cap blew off on freeway for the second time) :flame: and i must not have filled with enough water. but it just went from pretty warm back to cold as hell tonight. so i REALLY hope i still have enough coolant in there for it not to freeze up on me :crying:

BLKDOUT & FLYBYE....

I suggest you do a little research on the "good ole green stuff".There is a reason hardly anyone uses it anymore..

well please help me out on what i should use or do with this? i would like to flush the sytem tomorrow at work....i havent ran the green stuff in my car either. i have just heard of a few others doing so and they said it ran good and fine. once again please help me so i can just get one of my 50000000 problems knocked out of the way! :crying:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the G-05 factory fill in the srt4, in fact Mercedes has been using G-05 as the factory fill since the 80's and it is pretty much the standard in europe. I suggest you refill with ZEREX G-05 or whatever flavor G-05 you have at your shop...

I can say the coolant in my car, that I drained at 45K to install Stage 3 was fine, no evidence of rust or other breakdown. At that point I refilled with the Prestone "Any color" stuff, and thats been in for over 20K now with no issues.

Guys, unless you really have a good reason, and really know what your doing, just using other fluids willy-nilly is not a good idea.

I just called the dealer and he said the Dexcool was fine...But I'm still thinking about getting a flush done anyways and switching.
Sorry, but if you trust that, your being foolish. Really. The facts have been presented, from industry informational sites. Trusting your dealer on this is asking for trouble.

well i just went and bought some more of the prestone universal and tossed some in.....my overflow is full and the thermo housing looked pretty full too, but my gaslight was flashing so i wont really know untill i get her up to heat and let it al flow through the system. my mixtures are shot :jester: but atleast there is some in there for now untill i can do the flush (hopefully tom. at work?) :eeeek:

I'm not really that worried about having a lot in my system. I've used about 3/8 of the bottle in total. Plus I accidently spilt a shit load and then there was the hose popping off story. And today I also dumped out the overflow tank and threw in regular distilled water. I may have maybe a pint in the coolant system. Not too big of a deal I think.

YAY.......just did my coolant flush at work today and i totally forgot we had some Zerex G-05 in stock

Looking at your mod list, youve got maybe $1500-2K into your car. $150 or so for a flush and fill is pretty cheap insurance.

That will do it! I used a pressure machine at work which makes it easy to refill once you drain it, but the drain alone will do it!
i like to fill it with water then drain again to be safe.

ok bout this stuff clogg ing and getting muddy i have seen it in many gm cars that dont get flushed there is no real issue guys all we gotta do is flush every yeah and flush it good then you wont have that problem of muddy ness in you shit

Yeah the dealer is always right  I had a coupon for a coolant flush and fill from a local dodge dealer for 19.95,which is a good deal considering my Ram with the Cummins diesel holds about 6 gallons of coolant.

I noticed when I got it back the factory Mopar G-05 was replaced with the green snot of death. I questioned them on this and they had no Idea my truck came with the G-05 and that you dont use the green stuff ESPECIALLY in a diesel due to cavitation issues.. :gay:
So long story short they flushed out the green and put G-05 back in, all for 19.95...

If thats a dealer talking, he's lying like a dog. No way in hell can a delaer do that for that price. If its you, doing it your self, thats fine, but personally, I would have a professional flush & fill if my system has been mixed.
