YOu will win... but you wont blow him away as everyhting else seems to think. I used to hang out with a whole bunch of VW guys, and one of my good friends no has a GLI 1.8t(which , by the way, is the only motor available, if i'm not mistaken). The GLI is a special edition Jetta, like the GTI 337 or the 20th aniversary addition GTI. THe only difference between the regular Jetta and the GLI is that eh GLI has a 6 speed. to the crank, the GLI puts down 180, depending which chip he has(APR,Upsolute,Giac) he will push between 215 and 220 to the crank. Unfortunatly for them, our cars put down much more than that. Also, the GLI weighs 2964 lbs, and we weigh 2970. Not a big difference. I raced my freind with the GLI, and yes, I did beat him, but only by about1 car or so. He also has a chip, CAI, and motor mounts. you'd have to screw up pretty bad to lose... but you wont kick his ass either. best advece... race him, then he'll shut up.

this is a GLI....

this too is a GLI....

and guess what? this is also a GLI....
three cars, three different engines (16V, 1.8T, VR6)
the GLI is NOT a special edition car like the 337 or the 20thAE...but the production of these cars gave VAG leftover parts, which they used in the production of the latest GLI (recaro seats, BBS RC, 02M trannies, etc.)
if you only beat your friend by 1 car, you are a poor driver....you should have far better traction and about 40whp and 60 ft/lbs of torque on him (and thats with a decent ship...

A chipped, full exhaust and bolton turbo Jetta MIGHT beat a stock SRT-4. As long as you can drive remotely well, you should do fine.

I raced a gti 1.8t with a chip ,exhaust ,intake ,and high boost he was telling me he had it dyno'd at 317hp or so well I made him eat his words. We raced from a light and suprisingly he was beside until 3rd then i walked away by about 3 1/2 cars. Is it just me or does the srt kick everyones ass in 3rd ?? :yougotown
