I need a new gasket for the thermostat as mine has developed a very SLOW leak but the dealer wants $8 for it since it comes with a new thermostat. Anyone know where to get one or at least a part # besides the dealer?

Dude, its $8.00, just buy it and put in the new therostat and be done with it
I know but I just wanted to check and see if anyone sold one before I actually went and got that one. Why pay $8 when I could of gone down the street and paid $2? Know what I'm saying, just had to check,

Found one at Advanced Auto Parts, Fel-Pro # 35588. A lot better cause it's actually thicker, so it won't flatten or not completely seal like the OEM one,

Ok, I know what your saying, glad to see you found one, I actually thought it would be pretty hard to find just the gasket.

You could try to fix the old one with "form-a-gasket" sealant, but why bother. A tube of sealant will go for more that 2 bucks anyway. Even at eight bucks, it's a cheep fix. You probably spent that much on gas by making two trips. Just buy the gasket and be done with it. Its not like your going to do this often.

Turns out the new Mopar one is the same thickness. However there is no alignment tab nor are there partitions inside for the proper thermostat positioning. The original one in my car was no where close to this thickness. Yes I understand it will compress over time. I was mainly concerned because I didn’t want the housing to check when I torque down the bolts. (That happened in an escort because the dealer had the wrong part in the wrong box.

anyway, new Mopar Part # 6821 0218 AA - 001. Thermostat made by Motorad 18-558238/0 with other markings of 91C 195F FDI.
