Only other place I can think of. Unlike most consumer electronics, these don't have a list price that retailers then discount. from all the reviews, worth every penny. And all of them can be upgraded to the latest specs.

If you go to buy one on Ebay, get the serial number FIRST. The go to www.valentineone.com and check the software version.(click on UPGRADE) There are like 9 versions, you want to make sure you get the latest one. V1 has been around for about 10 years now.......

I can understand saving money, but if you can't find one on Ebay, pay the $400. You'll save more when you avoid a speeding ticket than buying some cheaper detector. I've had a V1 for a while now, and I LOVE it. It's save my ass a number of times. Remember, one ticket will cost you a fine of ~$90, but the insurance increase is the big hit.

It's seems cheaper to just buy the newest version for $400. If you buy an older version (example: version 1.7, $195) and then try to upgrade ($290) it's more expensive than buying a new one. Unless you can get an older version dirt cheap or free, I would just buy a new one.
