Ok... why does everyone seem to think that the 04's will come with a LSD and be more money!?!?.. thats soooooooo freakin retarded for dodge to raise the price. Think about it. everywhere you always see the SRT being called the "fastest car UNDER 20 grand"... if they raise the price above that, then they willl lose lots of their products reputation and identity they have worked so hard to gain during the R&D process.

can you imagine the new slogan when they raise the price

"SRT-4, the fastest car under 20k if you bought the 2003 model which was not made available all over the country, but the 04's are more and EVERYONE can buy them!!,, SRT-4, a fast car, some sold for 20k, others more!!,, get to your local Dodge dearlership for a test drive (be sure to see if they have any 03's left though, they are cheaper)"


Using some COMMON SENSE dodge would make the LSD an option, and maybe give the car a few more options available, therefore giving the user the option to raise the car higher than 20k if they wish.

I agree with you. But this is what my dealer told me. They said they're going to come with around a 5% increase, which is like $1000. That's most likely the LSD. It's just a guess, we always seem to know more than the dealers. Lol.

You have to remember that the price increase for adding an LSD into the '04 Model would only be the DIFFERENCE between what a Standard Differential & Limited Slip Differential cost.

That's true but will the LSD be the only upgrade from the 03's ? I think the dealers have learned their lesson about markups. I suspect this 04' model will remain at about 20k.

i hope its around the same and they're out soon. Thinking about getting one more and more haha. Im not doing the first year production run thing again though, just seems that it gets better over time, more little problems fixed (as with the Spec V's that is). And i've read they're gonna offer a blue. Is that a dark or light blue do you think? Im a fan of the darker blue But, lets just hope i can save enough to get rid of this car and get somthing with a nice turbo sound

Also, i've read the looks will be changed (somewhere on here someone has "seen" the 04 and it looks different). If so, whats changed?

But hey, if all works out i'll be the 3rd member of the car club to switch to an SRT 4

The first 04 neons will be built in July, just like every year. Any SRT's built after that will also be 04. If LSD is factory, expect a price increase. It might only be a few hundred or 1k, but it will go up. The price is why we didn't get the car in the first place. Now that the car is hot and selling, DCX is comfortable with a slight price increase for a major complaint. Now, if LSD is factory installed, it will be on every car. There's a lot of problems when you have to introduce a new tranny w/lsd to the system, and have the old tranny also. The plant doesn't like to do that. So i'd expect that the LSD will be standard. But, if DCX thinks a price increase will be a problem, they'll test the LSD and let mopar/dealers sell and install it. I'm sure we'll know within two months if 04 will have any extra goodies.

advice on purchasing/not purchasing....

i'm just about to buy a SRT4, only prob is the question (like many) of do i get an '03 or wait for the '04? Can someone make me a list of the pros and cons of waiting/not waiting for an '04???? Summer's coming up and I want/need a new car to have to enjoy for the summer. I'm into road racing, autocrossing, drag racing, etc. So the SRT4 seems like the perfect car for all those activities for me. But i don't know when the '04s will be out and then if i wait I'll probably end up throwing the whole summer away cause i won't have the car until going into fall when the summer's over. But if i get the '03 now before the '04s come out then i'd be in good shape for the summer. Also, the thought of first production year problems in the '03s bother me and I wonder if any will be resolved for the '04s. Please, all input is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance!!! (ps...anyone know what type of blue it will look like on the '04s if they bring it out?)

Well I know one positive reason to wait is that the Mopar Speedshops will be in place by the time the 04's come out. By that time, you can save up enough money to have done to the car what you want at the dealer and roll off da lot with what looks like 6 months worth of work done to it (hopefully under warranty) with an LSD. Although, I understand the summer thing cause that's what I'm dealing with too.
