I'm trying to decide on a cost effective way to get the best traction. I was thinking of getting the Kosei K1 Racing 15x7 maybe with a Mickey Thompson 235-60-15 or a 17x7.5 with the Nito NT-555R 245-45-17.

Is there any advantage to having a 15inch rim?

Are there any better tire choices for the 15in or 17in rims?

Thanks,

If I go with the 15's what tire do you recomend? I have stock suspension.

I want a DOT tire for now, not a slick, something I can race with on the street too.

225-45-17
then 225-50-15 (smaller but your only choice)

id get teh 225-45-17s if it was me they are made by BFG

The only reason to run 15's is so you can fit a taller sidewall slick on the car. One of the ways slicks increase traction is by having a flexable sidwale. If you are running a 17 then you will have to stay with a low profile tire and you will lose all the benifits of running a slick. If you are looking for something to run on the street then you will have to stick to a drag radial that does not rely on sidewall flex as much. I run BFG drag radials on the stock rims 225/45/17.

i'll be running MT et streets 235/60/15s on kosei k1s. just waiting for the rims to get here. that going to be my street and strip set up. i don't exspect them to last long on the street, so good thing i don't drive the car everyday. lol.
