I just got home from santa monica. On the freeway on my way home I'm in the slow lane passing someone and they decide to merge into me, so I swerve to my right not realizing theres a divider between me and the offramp next to me.

I hit the divider doing about 75 blew out my front right tire, pulled over and my passenger door won't open, rim is ruined, my hood is crooked, and my front right fender is sunken in.

So I out the spare on and drove home, suspension seems to be ok, but I don't really know. The car pulls really hard to the right and the steering wheel is crooked. But the hood, fender, and door are all fucked up, like the don't line up anymore and I can't even open my passenger door.

I'm so sad you guys, I just got my car barely a month ago, and it's all screwed up now. I don't want to take it to insurance and even if I did I have a $1000 deductible. I'm really worried about the suspension and there could be other things wrong with it that I don't know about. I can't afford this crap, this is the last thing I need right now, my car all messed up and I don't know what to do.

I guess I'll look at it more in the morning but I'm super bummed, anyone in the redlands/riverside inland empire area that wants to help me fix my car I'll pay you. All I want is it to be like it was before tonight, new.

man this really sucks.

ok, later,

well if you dont even have the money for the deductible how do you think you will fix those repairs it needs

I say even though your insurance is gonna go up to get it fixed better find someone to loan you 1000 bucks and get repaired with the insurance company

I'm kind of hoping I can fix it for less than a grand. I can come up with the money, I just won't eat or something. I really really don't want to go through insurance for the simple fact that my payments are already astronomical and I don;t want them going up even more.

this is why i tell people, if someone's going to hit you, try not getting hit but ultimately let them hit you before you hit something and risk both you and the car, over swapping some paint.

Good Luck though.

Man that sucks...I would take it to a shop to at least get a quote though...that way they will look at it for free and be able to tell you everything wrong with it so you will know if you bent your frame or suspension etc...more than likely you messed something up on the suspension...if you had the donut on then remember that it is smaller than your normal tire and will make the car pull to the right....so I wouldnt sweat that too much...Oh, and try to switch the donut out and put it on the rear so that you dont burn out your differential driving on it too long that way...sorry to say it but if you want it done right you are probably going to either have to go through at least a body shop or your insurance...might only be like 1300 in damage in which case you could take it to the body shop and have them do it and insurance wouldnt have to know...either way take it and get an estimate...it is free...so sorry about your luck though...I know how much that must suck...

That really sucks. I bought a 95 240sx and drove it for 2 weeks w/o insurance then finally one day i get carried away with my rear wheel drive and take a corner real fast, understeer and baaaam! i hit the curb. My tires literaly popped off and my body wasent real bad just my front bumper. So far it hasnt been that expensive but when it happen i wanted to kill myself because i thought about it every second 24/7 so dont torture yourself you will only end up feeling worse i know i did.

Now this was 2 weeks ago and a total of $700 in parts mostly aftermaket so even if i did have insurance i wouldnt of went through the insurace company. So far what i think you should do is check everything first and check whats damaged and whats not... if theres a lot of damage get the insurance to fix it. When this happen to me the car looked really bad and expensive to fix but after i gave it a good check and found out what my car needed; it needed bumper, both lower control arms, tension rods, tie rods, struts and new rims or rim i knew what to get. Check for damage on those parts it could probably be a bent control arm or tie rod but i aint really sure so check it out. If go to the dealer and if they are too expensive (170-230) check car-part.com or your local junk yard. I went to car-part.com and i got my lower control arms really cheap since i couldnt get them at the dealer for less than $320 each and couldnt find a 240sx anywhere around here so i doubt you'll find a srt-4 w/ a good suspension around your area. Otherwise get some aftermarket stuff. CF hood, stronger tie rods, some new rims, dont know check your damage. Body work to your car is going to rape your though, unless you can fix it yourself, a rim could cost about 80-150 just to get it fixed and if the body damage is real bad you'll need a new paint job.

Then again i dont really know how much srt-4 prices are for these parts but once i get my srt-4 im gonna know. If you also do this your self you will learn a lot of new stuff... i know more about my car than i did. Good luck . BTW, its 4 am if theres any typos sorry or if you cant understand crap or if this is worthless. :zzzz:

being in the car repair business for 25yrs.,I will tell you it sounds like its gonna be a LOT worse than you think!!! :crying: :crying: A hit like that is REAL BAD!! From what your saying it sounds like its gonna need to go on a frame machine to straighten it out... When you say the door wont open and everything is missaligned And the body didnt take a hit that tells me that the frame is bent pretty bad, and I`m sure the suspension mounts are all out of wack. Dont be suprised if the repair goes over $3000.00 or more!! :crying:

"Wrecked SRT-4 for sale, easy fix!"

I see that in your future, sorry man that sucks but dont ever struggle to make payments on a car. Live with a beater for a long time so you can not have to struggle to make car payments, because something like this will happen.

ughh, I can't believe this. and I hate to say it but I think SRTper4mance is right. I guess I'll take it to a couple body shops and see what they say. Then probably drive off a cliff.

Man, thanks for the help though guys. Hopefully I can get everything fixed.

There is absolutley no way in hell I will let that happen. I LOVE my car, and I REFUSE to get rid of it, unless I get another one. I don't make a lot of money, but I make enough. I'll figure something out, it might take me a little while, but I'll get it fixed somehow.

Nooooo...Reeeaally?

Not funny, i know...but at least i got some stock parts for you if you need them: front spindles, calipers, rotors, brake lines/hoses, even a nice stock wheel set, special deal for you since you're in a tough spot right now.

Sounds like a whole lot of bad news. At least you know to slide into the car next time :/. Sad story and i feel for ya bro.

Your best bet in this situation would be to go to the insurance company. Insurance is evil, we all know that, but even with a 1000 deductable you will be making out in the end. Like per4mance said, since you cant even open the door, you've got problems. Its a little difficult to tell what's really wrong with it w/o seeing it but problems like you're stating, there is definitely some tweakage that went on, and some hard tweaks at that.

Sorry about the mishap and i hope you can pop it all together soon enough.

theres NO CHANCE IN HELL that you'll fix it for UNDER $1,000. My new rear bumper cover from Mopar/Dealer was $417. Painting it I went to AMS and they did it for about $250. To put it on cost about $200...All together it cost me $896.50......thats for JUST my rear bumper...getting suspension fixed, plus a new door (about $600 id imagine w/mirror) and everything else...your looking A LOT more than $2000. I'd hate to be the one to break it to ya but...do what stealth said and just let the insurance fix it. Seriosuly, it'll be cheaper in the long run.
