here's the Nakayama Kodama 18x7.5

$1099 a set w/tires

and here's the Velox PG-5S 18x7.5

$1999 a set w/tires

other than the little chamfer cuts in between the spokes and the whole Velox wheel being 'chromed' i see no visual difference.

does anyone know if the Kodama is a forged lightweight wheel like the Velox?
They look awful close.

still contemplating the 5Zigen N1 in bronze...(*** can someone tell me the weight of the N1 in 18" ? ***)

18x7.5 w/tires $1399

and here's the Ro-Ja that someone just posted...

they all look close. Copying mo fo's...sure confuses the hell out of me. The Ro-Ja seems to be heavy (compared to the Velox) I'm curious what the Nakayama Kodama rim weighs now.

actually now that i look at them closer...seems the Nakayama has larger bends in the spokes, something i'm gonna need to clear large calipers.

i'm not saying Velox copied Ro-Ja or vice versa...
i'm saying they all seemed to have the same exact "look"...don't you agree?

if your Ro-Ja's weigh in at 21 lbs, to me...that's heavy. I know the Velox weighs a good 5-6 lbs less than that in 18"...a huge difference...just not sure about the Nakayama wheel and what it weighs. Considering the "cheap" price, it's heavy.

That leaves me with the 5Zigen N1 option...
All i need to know now is what it weighs in a 18" size and if it requires a spacer to work, cause i wouldn't want to add extra weight if it did...i'd just look for a different brand.

Anyone with the 5Zigen N1 in 18's ??? Spacer required?

seeing all these recent threads of your wheel searching, you should really provide the offset avaliable for each rim to help out with people knowing if it'd fit with, or without a spacer....not being a dick, just saying.

Nakayama just did a good job of copying the style of the PG-5S. ;)

The Kodama is most likely just a cast wheel that weighs around 18-20lbs a piece in 17". (call them and find out)

The Black Racing N1 weighs over 20lbs I believe for the 18".

my wheel searching is silly...i know, but i'm kind of lost myself in the world of offsets/widths, etc.
i'm looking to do a big brake conversion which neccessitates the use of a wider/taller wheel to clear the big fat caliper, but doesn't specify exactly what size offset i need to clear for my srt...

not only that, but i'm searching for a wheel that'll clear the Big brake kit AND not require a spacer...and if it's not too much to ask, i need it to tuck in nicely and not rub on my inner fender.

So you see...I can't display the offsets, first off because some of these wheels are offered with more than one offset...i've seen offsets on the same wheel go from -38mm to -45mm.
I'd like to know myself which offset works better for giving me more room for the caliper to fit in there...the smaller offset or the greater (number)...all this on an 18" wheel.

robino - this is from the other thread

You will need a wheel with a 35mm offset. This will allow as much clearance as you can get to allow for bigger calipers. I do not believe the width is as much of importance since it has nothing to do with the clearance of the brakes but rather the clearance inside of the wheel well. 7 to 7.5" is good.

Now, the biggest challenge will still be finding a wheel design that will be compatible with the brake upgrade your using. Your best bet would be to call the brake company and ask for a listing of wheels they know fit with a 35mm offset.

i've asked TCE about the list, he hasn't come up with it yet...

he has done BBK's for a few srt's and knows or should know of which offset/width will work with his 13.2" .81" thick rotor/Superlights caliper package.

he did mention 5Zigen which one guy has in 18" which he says cleared the brake set without spacers! This is what i'm after...a set which clears without spacers. But i would need the exact offset on those 5Zigens so i know what to look for.

the bend in the spoke of that wheel:

looks like an agressive bend in the spoke, but i can find another 5Zigen, more to my taste with a bend just as agressive so long as i knew the offset of that 18" wheel.
Do you recognize the model of that 5Zigen in the picture? If you know it, tell me so i can search for the offset of it in 18".

thanks.

i can't seem to find that look 5Zigen anywhere...i've searched everywhere, nobody that carries 5Zigen has one pictured/for sale.

i did find this wheel which seems to be lightweight at 17.5 lbs. ea. AND have a 35mm offset in an 18x7.5" (5x100) $225 per wheel. Not bad...just not sure if the spoke is bent agressively enough to allow the room needed for the caliper.

you'll get your cookie when i buy the damn things

EVO...

the other 5Zigen model is called the "Super Six".
i can't find weight/offsets anywhere i guess it's an earlier model which not many places sell now. Price seems to be around $215 a wheel and they weigh around 20+ lbs.

I'll see how these FN01R-C workout.

thats the 5Zien super six, actually Drolander had them last year on his yellow '03. we have the Giovanna G-Racing Kuma's which are very similar except the center but are 18x7.5" and +35mm offset. they allow for a much larger caliper to be mounted.!

Just so you know, the 5Zigen FN01-RC in 17x8 has a slightly more curvature of the spokes then the 17x7.

Let me find a pic...

Not the best pic but if you look you can see the spokes curve out some. Look at ATL-SRT's pics in the wheel gallery. He has the 17x7 and you can see the spokes are more straight.

If the Super Sixes are what you want then they only come in one size that fits - 18x7.5 35mm offset.
