I think I've found my problem...
So anyways...two-three weeks ago I noticed that in first gear and in any gear as a matter of fact, if it's under 2k rpm and you work the clutch just right, it makes a 'clunking' sound. Kinda of like cv axels but I don't believe it's that. Mainly in 1st gear it does this going real slow..easy off and on the gas.... so i took it to the Dodge place on Dale Mabry, TPA...of course no problems found...its preforming as normal and it could be the hard pipe (intake they called it) knocking against the tranny...which is BULL SHIT..there is NO way in hell for Manny Z's hard pipe to get anywhere near the tranny to make a metal clunking sound. So..i said fine...what the hell..if it fucks over hard I have 70k warrenty. Well...Im getting pissed because my car only 7months old sounds like a fucking junker car everytime im in first going easy...so I checked it out and well what the hell...I looked from the top down and noticed near the bottom motor/tranny there was some oil/dirt build up and it looks fresh...i jacked it up and took a look..well shit..where the tranny mounts to the engine..it looks like the gasket is fucked over and i can see where it would leak...I could see if it's low on tranny fluid it would make some kinda clunking noise within the tranny..so Friday Im gonna take her back up there but maybe to another Dodge....one that KNOWS what the fuck is going on...

Anyways...anyone have this same problem or know if this could happen...my clutch works fine but I am finding 3rd gear getting a LITTLE hard to get into..but that may be because of me trying to shift to fast without pushing in the clutch enough..im not sure though...13k miles

Thanks..

mine still clunks like you describe, but now i have a new problem and a 2nd to 1st downshift grinds at anything over 10 mph. my guess is the synchro is screwed but they claim they can't reproduce it. i can reproduce it in a minute but it make my stomach churn, hearing those gears grind each other away. anyone else with this problem?

Are you actually seeing 'wet' fluid or fluid buildup in a gritty form around seals or gaskets. If it wet you have a problem and I think there are a few TSB's that may cover your noise/leak. If it is a gritty-dusty looking fluid buildup, that is normal because the seals and gaskets will allow a small amount of fluid to pass by and road dirt will stick to the wet spots. You can check your fluid level by pulling the rubber plug on the front of your trans and sticking your finger in there, if fluid runs out or you can feel it with your finger then the level is fine.

Well..i do know the fluid leak your referring to Iron for normal leakage...where it would come out just a hair near the gaskets...well..nearly the whole front portion of the tranny is covered widespread...most of it's not near any gaskets....its like somone sprayed a fine layer of oil on the front most part of my tranny/engine...i did check my engine oil and it's well above norms..it's concentrated near the gasket where the tranny mounts to the engine..

Should I take my hard pipe and bov off?...i talked to the 'misinformed' tech and he said no it's fine..and knew the basic principle behind the bov and said i have nothing to worry about because the problem im experiencing is totally different than any bov would cause....which is none of course ....so at least were on the same page..

Just so you know, there isn't a gasket in between the motor and the transaxle. That curved area (bellhousing) isn't wet, meaning that there isn't any fluids that should be in there. The clutch is a dry clutch. All of the tranny fluid is where the geartrain/differential is. There shouldn't be any fluids coming out of where the motor and transaxle are bolted together.

my 3rd gear was hard as well. At 6800 miles they replaced the 3rd gear syncro, 3rd and 4th gear, the shaft, and a few seals, as well as the clutch.

That is EXACTLY what mine just got out of the shop for.

If you want to take it across the bay the guys at Autoway Dodge in Clearwater are pretty straight up. My car was pulling a little to the left and they didn't even question me before rotating, balancing and aligning the whole thing for free. Plus since it was close to oil change time they did that for $10.
