The Oversteer Strikes Back.....

It is that time again folks. Team Continental has invited us back for their HPDE experience at Portland Internationals Raceway Thursday August 30th. For those who went last time things will be a little different, as this time around Naykid will not be joining us and we will not run as our own group. Instead we will be grouped by experience on a road course. I believe they have 4 run groups from never done it before to races often with full prepped car. As before there is a ground school the night before (Wed 29th of August 7:00 pm) and everyone that has not been to TC's HPDE ground school is required to attend. Everyone who attended the ground school last time does not have to be in the ground school. You are allowed to attend if you would like, but not required. Please visit here to read all of TC’s requirements.

A helmet is required and must be Snell M or SA 1995 or newer. It can be open faced or closed it does not matter. Other than that your car should be in good mechanical condition and well maintained. There are no parts needed to buy, or hopups you need to get, but if you feel urged to spend some of your hard earned cash on this day spend it on brakes. Track day pads, High temp fluid (or at least a brake bleed with fresh fluid), Steel brake lines. Things along those lines are what most people noticed and thought was a weak point on their car the first time we did this.

To sign up download this form and print it out, fill it out, send it and your cash to the address on the form and get ready for a great couple days. The cost is $149 per person that includes the whole HPDE. Ground school and track day.

Last time we went, we checking into out hotels had dinner at hooters before the ground school then off to try and sleep. 6am the next morning it is rise and shine and head to the track. Get in line, get teched and meet for the drivers meeting. Take a tour of the course with driving instructors at slow speeds. During the day each group gets 4 on track sessions approx 30 min long. Laps around 2 mins each will get ya around 14 to 15 laps per session including 1 warm up and 1 cool down lap. Last time at the track I filled my car up with gas on the way to the track morning of and the gas light was on as I drove out the gate after the HPDE. For very thirsty cars you might need to fuel again at lunch, but gas in 2 min’s from the track as if a Burger King and several small convenience stores.

Hope to see as many of you come out if not more than last time. It is one fun time and you will learn a ton about your car, you’re driving ability, and your buddies. LMFAO
More info to come ask anything you need to know.
Randy
p.s. thanks James for the catchy title

After your comment about the Meatfest run being better than Driving School, you better show up. I am still thinking that PIR was better, but got to admit it is close.

Check is in the mail today.

hehehehe well how many of you guys were on 3 and 2 wheels at PIR... :shift: I distinctly remember seeing daylight under a few tires on 53

I'm a definite maybe!
I'm commited as an instructor again so I will be there. Not sure, since I only get one session as an instructor, if I should tow down the race car or if I should bring the SRT4 again. The SRT4 is nearly as fun... hm tough call.
