Tourist rides for the GP is from 1800 to 2000 on Wednesday the 19th and costs either 40 Euros for 20 minutes or 75 Euros for 2 each 20 minute sessions. I'm probably just going to do the one as I've never been on there before. Here's the link so you can book: Tourist rides Grand Prix track - Nürburgring
And, if I didn't mention it before, I'll be bringing the stickers and hats that MPx has sent for the event.
I'd like to recommend that we have dinner at the Pistonklaus on Sunday evening if everyone else would be ok with that. Seems that mostly everybody will be there on Sunday but if that day doesn't work, we can always switch it. I'm pretty much ok with whatever as long as I get some laps in at the 'Ring.
As for how people want to actually drive on the 'Ring, it's up to you guys but I'd recommend we start off by ourselves just getting used to the track. It's not something you just hop on and go and hope for the best. This track will chew you up and spit you out faster than you can say Adenauer Forst (this turn and I have a love/hate relationship). I can ride shotgun with you guys or you can ride shotgun with me to get a feel for it as well. I'd like to stay away from eachother from the get go just cause I think it'd be asking for trouble, but later as we're more comfortable we can go out together and get some good pictures/video. It'll all depend on how everyone is feeling though.
Also, while it's not mandatory, I HIGHLY recommend you bring a helmet. IMO, you can never be too safe on this track (yes, I need a cage I know) but a helmet should at the very least be considered. Other than that, just make sure you go over the basics like tire pressures, condition of your brake pads/rotors, fluids, alignment, blah blah blah. I'm not your nanny and I'm not going to coddle you if you destroy your car on the track, but I would like people to be prepared for this so that we can all have a great (safe) time.
Make no mistake gentlemen; this track is no joke. If you're not prepared to possibly be out a vehicle, I'd reconsider how hard you intend to drive. You wouldn't be the first Neon to spin out or even crash on this course...
thats probably the best advice I have ever heard about the Ring, I agree a lot of people dont realize just how serious and unforgiving the track is, there are more fatal accidents every year than I like to think about, I have never been on the ring just for this reason, I also never had a good reason to go but now I think meeting everyone is reason enough
So I've been doing some online reading and found a great site; Nurburgring Nordschleife website
It's a fantastic site all in English written by quite a knowledgable person. If you don't read the entire site, at the very least read this: Warning
As for me, with everything I've modified/changed with the car since I last drove it at the 'Ring, I'll need quite a bit of time to relearn everything.

With those tires alone you will have a new animal to contend with. Transitions will happen quicker and you will have more total grip. With having an alignment done the car probably be a bit more balanced too! :eveilgrin
Stay safe Mario, what you are doing is no joke, but you already know that. I'll bring some beer up to you when you get back. I'm saving my pennies, I can't miss another opportunity to go!
Getting excited but the car isnt.... working out a problem with my front brakes sticking
Also had to put stock exhaust back on for inspection, so that will mess up the tune completely....
Looks like we'll just be trailering the commemorative from my brother....
We will leave early on sunday morning and hope to be there before traffic.
We booked an appartment in 'hotel an der nordshleife' wich has a balcony view over the Breidscheid Bridge section. We also have a garage there to store the trailer.
Will bring alot of tools, since we have plenty of room... anyone needs something that they won't be able to bring?
Definately going to join you on sunday, having diner at the Pintonklaus restaurant sounds good!
i think its good to share telephonenumbers also
lets make a final list on who's coming down with the numbers:
hi I should be there I can bring a camera but i just spent bookoo dollars on parts so I cant justify buying go pro right now but my camera takes some sweet pics, did I see something about stickers for this also??

Nice man, wrote the info down so i guess u'll call us when u get there to meet up after work right?
Also got the confirmation from Elecsys, he will be coming down with a friend, they fixed up his friends car so they will try to be there with 2 srt's
Hi yes we are there on sunday morning, and stay for one night. we have some time problems
with the other car at the moment i think we come only with on srt
Glad to see people are getting excited for the meet.
Yes, we'll be there around Noon on Saturday. I'll be in the Nurburgring area until Wednesday evening and I plan on coming back up at least once a week for about 6 weeks after our meet.
As for my numbers, my UK mobile number is +44 (0)7760 996833. I do have a German pre-paid phone which I will be bringing with me and it's +4916098524582. I'm not sure if I have any minutes left on that phone so if I don't call you back, sorry heh.
As posted earlier, we'll try and all meet in the parking lot next to the place where you buy tickets about 30 minutes before the track opens. Knowing me, I'll be there a bit earlier. We'll try and get some laps in before the rush. I think if we plan on a group dinner at 1830 that day at the Pistonklaus, that'd be best. Once we see on that day who shows up and who is interested, I can make reservations then.
Oh, and between myself, my passenger and my friend with the RX-8, we're bringing down 3 Go Pros, 1 Contour Roam and a few regular cameras.
And yes, I am bringing down the meet stickers and hats. First come, first serve.
ok saturday 1830 it is I will be there save me a hat and sticker prices? and I will more than likely call you Bomb Squad, My names Kai, and we will meet at the piston klaus restaurant thats right at the entrance to the shopping area?
Sorry, 1830 on Sunday not Saturday. As for the stickers/hats, MPx sent them so they're free.
The Pistonklaus is in the Hotel Am Tiergarten in the town of Nurburg itself. It's not by the museum or big tourist area, it's up the road from the entrance to the Nordschleife. Just Google it.
Yeah, give me a holler whenever. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
