it's a WHEELIE BAR! Helps the car keep it's feet on the ground when going at high speed. Also used for rear wheel draggers to keep them from popping up too much from start-off.

Thats what I thought it was . but why does a front wheel drive car need a wheely bar? is it the torque from the engine that would lift the front end or is it spaciffically for high speed areo?

With front drag cars, they have front hard shock settings while the rear has medium to soft to help the launch. The wheelie bars to help keep the car from launching back on a non-drive wheel line.

There's no kit. Anyone who owns an SRT-4, look at the top of your airbox. The circle is STAMPED into the plastic from the back side! It's a perfect 3" diameter hole....

The next stupid question, then is that part of the hood (above the airbox) functional? I would hate to cut it and find out afterwards.
Nope, it's there only to be cut.
