I'm 68, have had 3 Challengers, 1 a 440, not much more than stock, 12.2's at Bristol,,, oh well, Got an 04 SRT-4 from my son 8 yrs ago. The check engine light came on the other day, had it read, something about cooling, I believe the thermostat is , Thank goodness stuck open, so takes it a while to get up to proper heat. Now here is the kicker, daughter was driving it last night, coming up our driveway, all of a sudden it dings , a bell ringing ding, and the interior light comes on (it's a sunroof car) she stops part way up the kind of steep driveway, pulls on in and it does it again???? Car she said was running fine, is this maybe a warning since it's been two weeks since the check engine light came on, for me to get off my lazy butt and change the thermostat???? I'm also still looking for struts all the way around, something affordable, had Racelands on it at one time, even adjusted up, they lowered it too much, then Mopar ones came available, got them, and they didn't last anytime, this time around, Car is stock except for a Mopar bov, has 136k miles on it, think I have a boost leak also, sometimes it pulls hard, sometimes not,, I'm old school, a carb, kind of guy, Also have a 76 Gremlin X that was my oldest son's first car when he was 16, he is 40 now, still have it!!! Thanks guys in advance.

The attached is a list of chimes/buzzers from the FSM for the 2003-2005 neon/srt4s

I am not sure I understand the sequence of events that set your light off, but if the brake reservoir is low, the warning can set off the same dash light as the park brake/e-brake when its on. I know that light, when the fluid is low, can show up under hard acceleration but a steep driveway grade may also be enough to trip it. I don't recall there being a chime associated with it, but others have suggested that it could happen.

Anyway, check the brake reservoir. Maybe that's it.

Thanks Guys, been a long day and just now getting home, the driveway is not REAL steep, but will check the brake fluid level, and the ground, like I said my daughter was driving it, I took it to a Comic show today about a 40 mile round trip, and everything was fine, except the check engine light is still on, when the weather gets better I will change that thermostat. Thanks again.

well, just got through kind of changing the clutch fluid, with a turkey baster,, and the brake fluid, in the misty rain. Now have to re read, what somebody told me about the negative IIRC , which at my age I can barely remember my name in the mornings.

Yeah, Ragin, said something about a ground near the front right side of the radiator, I guess the drivers side, I have an old "dumb" flip, phone, and my computer is 75 yards from the garage, which behind it I have a 100 yard shooting range,, Living in the hills of Tn, has it's perks!!!

Brake fluid was the very first chime I ever had in the car, well, aside from seatbelt, door ding, the usuals. Mine however was under hard acceleration lol.

In the comment section, it is stated that they could be used on any 00-05 Neon. It even states that these would cause a base Neon to sit higher. Can we just use base neon struts and accept a half an inch lowering? Asking purely out of curiosity as I'm rocking the BC's.

Nothing at the time, and as usual, when I went looking to see something I remembered on the forums, I was the one who posted about it.
I remember the "phantom chime." It still happens from time to time; happened to me just the other day! I don't think anyone ever figured out what causes it. It's just a single ding. I wasn't sure if the OP was describing a couple of single dings, or a repetitive ding-ding-ding type of thing?

I experimented (17 years ago) with the standard Neon strut idea and found that the rear struts would fit a 215/45/17 but the lower spring perch was quite close to the tire.
The front Neon strut spring perch is even lower and won't fit unless you are using 16" or very low profile 17" tires.

SNOBRDRDAN2 THANK YOU so much, for the strut info. Like I said the racelands even alll the way adjusted up, lowered it too much, (spoiler would drag coming out of driveway), rode too hard, but boy they controlled body roll !!! sold them with onl 17k on them when supposedly Mopar OEM ones were available again from dealership, I don't know who made them, (they were back ordered for IIRC 2 yrs,,, They didn't last a quarter as long as the originals that came on the car. I just want a decent ride, the ones on there now are about useless in some pot holes, or is it raised bumps?? It's my daily driver, the 12 Ram truck (hemi) sucks gas around town, but is decent on a road trip, quad cab, 4X4 with a camper topper. 22mpg in the flat lands at 70 mph avg....and the back loaded down for a months worth of beaching and fishing!!! I'll check with the guy that's going to put them on for me, seems like he had to buy the bearing things or something last time from junkyard I think, will check with him before I order!! Any body here have experience with these struts????? Just glad to find something in that price range, hopefully they will last the rest of my days, car only has 136k miles on it.

CSX,,,,I'm retired from CSX
My handle is Mopar related; I have two Shelby CSXes. We have a lot of railroaders in the family, though. My father-in-law and brother-in-law are retired, and another brother-in-law and a nephew work for Canadian National.

Was hardly ever home to go drag racing at Bristol, when I was a carman with them and welded, was off on weekends, then could race a lot, and go to cruise in's,,, I'm sure your kin folk know what I'm talking about, Drove a little old lady's IIRC Shadow that was turbo,??? dang it ran well at the time,, think that was back in 95 or so?
