Stock Boost

Hello All,
I was just wondering what kind of stock boost everyone has been seeing. I live in the Northeast so it is not yet as warm as Florida, but I have noticed that the max boost I have seen on my gauge so far has been about 12.5 PSI, is this normal? The car pulls nice, but with all this talk of breaking the tires loose in 2nd gear(which I can't do when the roads are dry) I'm wondering if I may be down on power.

Sounds fine to me. I get the same boost & no breaking loose of the tires in second.
Cool...I was beginning to worry...now to buy a TurboXS MBC and REALLY have traction problems...

Same here. I see 12 or 12.5 lbs of boost and I don't break loose in second gear, but not trying to, either. First breaks loose at 15 mph when I punch the accelerator.
I only see higher boost levels (14psi) in 3rd-5th. But 12 or 12.5 is what I see in first or second.
I asked this question myself recently, and I learned that those that are breaking the tires loose in 2nd w/o mods are doing it by over-revving and dumping the clutch, or speed shifting with no traction from 1st.

W/o mods, 2nd might chirp, but shouldn't just bust loose if you are engaged all the way.
well...with the little gimmick I have done to mine...it's a pretty steady 16 psi now, and as far as 2nd gear goes, always peel out when shifting to it and if I floor it, someitmes I shift to 2nd and not floor it, but once I do get into it, goin about 2500 rpm if I floor it, the car will actually start chirping around 4000 and lose traction for a second

when it was completely stock I dunno if I ever got it to peel in 2nd??
May Still Have a Problem.

I just want to clarify...I have never..in any gear..seen a boost reading higher than 12.5PSI, even in 4th and 5th. Does this still sound normal?

In stock form, that sounds normal. I hardly get even 12psi on stock form.
Yesterday going around wide left hand turn, I fully peeled out in 2nd at about 30-35mph with the clutch fully out. That's the first time I've peeled out in 2nd and surely only due to the open differential.

In a straight line I only chirp 2nd (and 3rd once :) ).
I'll wait for my mounts to experiment on the chirps. But I love my tires.
I have been reading this burn in second threads and I tried it several times. I came to the conclusion that pavement plays a notable role in second gear traction. The first time I tried to see if I broke traction was today on the I-80 freeway onramp (Uphill, Decent pavement). I was in second gear at about 2800 RPM and I gunned it with the wheels totally straight it pulled hard but at about 4000 the tires broke free and I lost traction and got some slightly annoying torque steer. I tried it again on several roads and almost everytime if I was going in a straight line in second and did WOT at about 3000 I would break traction at about 4000 RPM pretty badly untill I let up off the throttle. It seems like from previous driving experience this doesnt happen everytime I do WOT in second. During normal agressive driving I usually just chirp but I am rarely in WOT in second gear (I usually only romp on it in 3rd 4th and 5th on the freeway and city streets) I will try this some more (My pooooor tires) and see if I am doing something specifically different than usual here. Btw my car is completly stock.

:edit: and as far as boost goes on *most* days I see 11-13 but on those nice saturdays where its in the mid 80's outside and you just washed your baby and are about take it for a nice cruise I see about 13-15, but those days have been rare lately

I just bought a used SRT with 3,000 miles on it and I'm wondering if it has been modified. I am hitting 17psi and then backing down to 15-16psi and it is 112 degrees outside! If it was modified where should I look?

probably not. Drive it at night when it's cooler less boost. the air isnt dense when it hot so the cpu asks for more and the boost responds. happened to me once but only cause it was hot.
Also unplug your battery and wait an hour and replug it in.
You think resetting the ECU is a good idea? How come?
Because the computer always learns the way you drive. And if you did drive nice and easy during break-in period... it could have learned that.
