Dale.... You said that Germany is far fetched? Why? There is more than enough support in the overseas section to support this. I know that most of us in Germany don't know what the oc is because we haven't been exposed to it. Once you come to Germany you either love it or hate it. It seems that most with SRT's love it and end up staying. We have probably 30-40 active members just on this site not to include any other SRT platforms. Being military we all already share a bond. I'm sure it could work as a small piece of the puzzle.

I was speaking about LER hosting an event there... I can organize something in Georgia, or South Carolina, or New Jersey, or Utah, even Kansas, but I doubt I can handle organizing a track event in Germany. I don't know the first thing about insurance, tech, euros, or anything else that the administration of an event requires overseas.

I know the German group is fanatical, I bought a bunch of their T-Shirts. Nobody else has T-Shirts....
I see what you mean. We'd have to organize any of that kind of thing on our end. Thats where it would come into play where you have a person or persons in charge of our lil area. There are a few Germans who own SRT4's and a few more with SRT8's and such and I know they would be interested in a club of this caliber. Its just something to offer up as the little part we can play.

SRToc

#1 gotta agree with you, although I don't think anyone took that suggestion seriously, it probably wasn't even made seriously.

#2 What has that got to do with the SRToc? Nothing... The OC has nothing to do with what vendors support SRTforums.. However, I agree that people who give known problem vendors money deserve to lose it, and that people should know better.

#3 I think you're getting ahead of things, without a group of people to support vendors, there is no reason for vendors to support a group of people. Not sure where the 'group buy' thing comes from, unless you meant a percentage discount. Regardless, I personally don't see any reason for a vendor to offer the SRToc any discounts at all for at least a year or two...

But, don't get me wrong, you at least take the time to voice your opinion, which means you actually care about how the club gets sorted out. That is a lot more than most people offer. What Region would you be in, and do you want to run it?

Dale
#1. I honestly think it was. There is quite a large number of people who seem to think that they are somehow special. If you doubt this, go to any of the forums and ask for help.

#2. Then I guess I am confusing the forums with the oc.

#3. I can only speak for myself here, but my car has been built using almost entirely vendors on this forum, as has my wifes class winning car.

As for which region I am in, right now it is the South/Southeast region, but it is solely at the discretion of the US Army for now.

i never said that individual couldn't be me :hahano: But seriously the Z club looked really well sorted out and SRTOC being more of a networking solution and guiding body for state and local clubs seems like the logical purpose to me.
most Z clubs are really organized and there are about 20 events a year from different clubs, there is one next month in GA at Z1 motorsports.

I didn't realize this thread was going on.

I can mostly say I'm an old schooler on here, in more ways than one. When the SRToc was started there was a lot of excitement and desire to be part of the fastest growing car community in the world. Since the SRT-4 was discontinued the interest has fallen and the excitement has died. Like Dale said this is a really hard time right now to deal with the growing pain to try and transition from a new and exciting club to one that has legs and will grow and walk for years to come.

I am really into the idea of having more of a local region leadership that helps oversee the National aspect. In every region we have a core of people that are in it for the long haul. Like in the NW we have me, Back-n-black, Jaymzx, coy, spcforker and a few others that are always involved in whatever is going on. I for one have taken leadership in the NW and usually plan and organize events and ideas of stuff to do, even though I have never said I was the leader it has just happened that way. We could find that core of guys in each region and set up Chapters (some are already set up and growing) and have a setting where the leadership from those groups can come together as one.

We have such a great resource of people here on the Forums, and the people that attend the Nationals. If we could figure out a way to harness that, it would be very beneficial. Fortunately we has a huge national event that is growing and would be a very good resource to draw from and help the OC grow and expand. But we need to be careful not to make it be an exclusive part of being part of the OC. Have the regions involved and do similar region events, on a much smaller scale but with a little extra work from many it is very possible.

I very much like the idea of having an OC sponsored national event, but I also think it will be the very same people that attend the Nationals that would be involved and go to such an event. I see it much more practical to have some aspect of the National meet geared toward SRToc members. I think that was one disappointment I had from last years Nationals, was that there was nothing that brought the SRToc members together when so many of us were all together in one place. Being such a huge cost, time and money wise I don't think many Nationally could do two events across the country a year.

Jaymz, Randy and myself have all at times discussed locally the SRToc were it is and where it is going and we all have and interest in seeing it succeed. All three of use are willing to do our part to help it get back on it's feet and make it into a real beating part of this community.

As most of you know the SRToc has almost ceased to exist since the 2006 Nationals. We intended the 2006 Nationals to be an event that jumpstarted the club; instead it seems as though it was our last hoorah. Aside from a few random posts the forum has been dead, the website has been down, and no new members have signed up.

The SRToc is at an important crossroads: do we cease to exist completely and disband -or- do we transition the club to new leadership who try to climb the steep hill of bringing the club out of dispare? I think we all have an idealized vision of what the club can and should be and I hope some of you are willing to accept the task of bringing it to prominence. Taking it there is a very challenging task; one that was too challenging for the current executive board.

Let's not get caught up in what went wrong, but rather focus on where do we go from here. We can worry about what went wrong if we transition to a new executive board.

Please take some time to consider what you think is best for the future of the club. Let's discuss for the next week or so; then we can decide what direction to move. Lastly, if possible please draw other SRToc members attention to this thread.

Your Treasurer and Lifelong SRToc Believer,
Alex
Ideas that I would like to see would be a weekly update in the form of email or small news letter with things from forum member. Things like the fastest stock turbo times record, new HP numbers that were hit, ect ect. Keeping track on members build up (extordinary builds not ordinary). Something that the forums miss or that would interest the members into getting a membership to the OC. It needs something to attract the younger readers.

Looking forward to getting those updates from you.... shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes a week...

Sorry I'm late. Did I miss anything?? I like the idea of regional clubs loosely affiliated to the srtoc. When we set up the Indiana SRT owners club, we were hoping to become one of the first regional chapters of the srtoc. didn't happen. I don't blame Castrol for this, but I would like to see something happen. $.02

holey cow ! im late as hell. i would like to see an srtoc. im a full supporter.
im for making rules on attending and for paying dues. i know there are people that cant make those events but if it broke down by region it would be easier. and people that know they still cant make it can pay less and be afforded less benefits. those people will still have certain reqmts to meet.
As far as the Forum is concerned. i think srtforums should only be for members. no guest, no freebees, nothing. just members. it seams pretty strict and sounds like im fidel castros brother but its a good way to weed out the bad and attract those that are serious. if you cant make the forums paying members only then make buy sell only for members and vendors can sell under their own section. i dont know, but this forum and OC needs to be fired back up and in full effect.

we overseas srt owners are really strong. like marraka said, we all share a bond aside from just the car. the overseas region is e real money maker! we just need to provide a reason for people to enlist in the OC!

Late in the game, apologize for that. I, as most other do want to bring the club back. I know there have been times that I have wanted to get together with other owners to go to the track or do the normal drag on a friday night. I am out of buisness cards now that I have left them on people's cars.

Organization I think would be easier to divide into region's/chapters. State chapters maybe a little bit harder to manage where Regions would be a little easier probably. Then have a national leadership team to take the reigns for everything else.

Discounts are always great. The freebee's when signing up were a nice bonus as well. Will probably have to come up with a few other things to keep everyone coming. This may end up coming down to doing the meets, the BBQ's, the dyno days, etc.

I would be available to throw in my help for this. Here in NY or the region. I am game to help out if needed.
