SRT Turbo Charger warranty ?

1412 Views 24 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  glhs837
Has anybody investigated if the TC is covered just under the 3/36 or part of the 7/70 powertrain warranty?

I have to assume its not covered under 7/70. Anybody know for sure ?

This would be excellent info to know.

Thanks

It used to be that since part of it sticks into the exhaust stream, it was considered part of the emmisions system, covered under federal law to 5/50. At least thats how the dealer replaced mine free of charge on my 85 Shelby Charger when it went at 49,500.
i asked my dealer and they said it was covered under the 7/70k...
anyone with other info?
I was not saying it's not in the 7/70, just that it is at least 5/50 vice 3/30. When my local dealer learns how to spell SRT-4, I'll feel better about asking questions like this.
im sure that since its part of the powertrain that it fits under 7/70.

its not like it falls under the bumper to bumper category, its not power locks here, come on :p
When my dealer was trying to sell me the extended warranty, he kept saying how it covered the turbo as well. This led me to believe that the TC was not covered under the 7/70, although that was just an assumption on my part.
the turbo is covered by the 7/70 warranty.....that was one of the biggest sales pitches dodge made besides being the fastest car you could buy for under 20k........if they tell you other wise they are trying to get ya $$$

My dealer emphatically emphisized me my turbo was not covered under the 7/70 and that it only covered the engine block, heads, pistons (assembly) and tranny. Because he said that I *DID* purchase the extended warrenty! If the turbo is covered in the 70/70 how can he get away with lying like that?
They lie like that all the time. The turbo relates to the powertrain, and it should be covered under 7/70

Well now that I blew almost 2 grand on the extended warrenty. . . can some one help me justify that purchase? is that 7/70 bumper/bumper warrenty I bought worth it? Guess that dealer wont be getting good marks on that DCX questioneer.
Actually, the turbocharger itself, and the FMIC, are NOT covered by the 7/70, only the 3/36. The powertrain relates to the engine and it's components only. The turbo is considered bart of the emissions system. Just what I was told.

Also - the extended warranty states in it that it will cover the following:
Turbocharger housing and all internal parts
Turbocharger wastegate Actuator
Fuel injection pump and Injectors (excluding clogged injectors) etc...
which leads me to believe that these and others are not covered by the powertrain warranty - just the basic.
you did get ripped if they charged you 2g's. I picked it up for just 990. And unless you went balls-out, it doesn't cover basic wear items like brakepads, tires, etc...
Don't you get a copy of what is covered and what isn't when purchasing the 7/70 warranty ? Look for that or ask to see it from the dealer. It has to be listed somewhere. I would bet that it states something along the lines of all lubricated parts/bearings or something similar.

Anything a dealer says is worthless. Get it in writing Most contracts even state oral agreements are not viable.

I just called the dealer and put on my :x  Faces. I was VERY assertive and explained what I was told and how much I was charged and how horrible their conduct was. The manager is going to do some more research but he said at the end "If I got you a better warrenty plan and gave you some of your warrenty money back would this provide you with enough resolution?"

I said "Yes it would." He is going to call me back tomarrow!

Thanks guys! if it wasnt for this thread I would have never noticed this!

I hate to drag up an old thread, but I wanted to confirm this.

I just happened to be reading through my warranty book last night and the Turbo/exhaust manifold assembly is covered for 7/70.
they say powertrain is covered 7/70 i would think that the tranny is part of the powertrain but its only coverd one year or 12k miles.
That would be a neat trick, since no 05 sold has 7/70, they are all 3/36 cars. Of course, since they are emmisions related, the turbo should be 5/50, but do check on that.

Where in your manual does it say that?
In my warranty book. It is has a black cover and reads 2005 SRT Vehicles and underneath that Warranty Information. It has a list of SRT vehicles and parts covered beyond the 3/36 bumper to bumper coverage.

Now that I reread that section though, I believe it is only Californial emissions certified vehicles. :stab:
