SPEC clutches??

841 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  jmg2k3srt4
Okay my clutch recently started slipping due to the stocker being so weak and using slicks, so I have been looking around at the different packages and have come across the SPEC brand of clutches. Now my question is this, has anyone run them with success or failure?? I tried searching for this but everytime I search I get a v-bulletin message stating that no results were found for my search. So any input would be helpful, thanks in advance.

spec sucks ass, there were acouple of guys that had them explode and completely destroy a engine compartment, it shattered the intake manifold, if you do a search you will find some pics of major damage...so yeah spec sucks ass

And you have personal experience with SPEC clutches????I had a SPEC S3i holding 450hp and 5 dozen passes on slicks with alot of abuse.I only took it off and replaced it when I went bigger power.Alot of clutch failures are due to improper install due to cheap ass Neon owners trying to do shit they are not capable of trying to save $$$.I also saw some examples of SPEC clutches going bad,but you never know the whole story.Im just trying to make the point that all the he said/she said bullshit on these forums must be taken with a grain of salt.Dont bash vendors/companies unless you are speaking from "personal experience".:readclose Now the rest of you "I heard it from my uncles, nephews, dads, best friend" asshats please feel free to come in here and post your "stories".
the DCR powershift 2 clutch i have is very nice, and is also supposed to handle pretty much anything you want to throw at it
well i went with a south bend stage 3 cluthc which is the same that ptp sells for 20 bucks less, installing sometime this weekend, will let you know how it feels
I've had a spec for over a year now, over 100 passes at the track, and like 30-35k on it, no probs
I had one of the first batches of the Spec stage 3. The pedal wasnt that great for daily use but it did great for me. Granted I was only on stage 2 with bolt on power levels. I had more problems with the South bend clutches, they sent 2 that were out of balance one of them was visably out of alignnment, the first one wasnt discovered until it was installed and vibrated the car.
