i dont know why i kinda dont want to do big turbo...(MABEY CUZ MY BLOCK HAS 70K MILES ON IT), but im not all too excited to slap a big turbo on my car. i basically have every supporting mod for the big turbo, and im maxing the stock turbo out at 22psi. im also not looking to spend more then 1000 on a big turbo (Preferably used). im not looking to make more then 350 to 375whp anyway, mabey a SST or e2 or the ripp mods stock turbo with 16g wheel would suite me better...any suggestions guys?

if you're not excited about a big turbo, then don't do it. :)

Yea, I thought I'd be happy with S2 no toys... NOT... Then, I thought I'd be happy with the big turbo and S2 controlling (dyno'd 308 whp)... NOT... Now, I'm going next week to get a DTEC, 750's, and a big FMIC installed... I can already imagine that I will only want more, more, more....
get the SST and ported mani and 3"02 housing its a good combo. plus it looks stock which is a plus, the SST sounds badass too
Ah man just go big and you'll never go back.

Coming from the guy that was stock, maxed out stock, stage 2 stock, Full on sst kit pcm control, full on sst and everbolt-on not pcm control and now 50 trim... NIGHT AND DAY . . way better drivablity.. .. love it so much
yea guys.....how much you guys think a used setup is going to cost me (i see them on the for sale section but never look into the thread) ...all i need is a turbo, manifold, misc. lines, big turbo 02 housing, and a wastegate. i have basically every supporting mod!

I picked mine up NEW (for a guy that bought it from AGP and never used and sold the srt) for 1600.00 (shipped)... AGP kit with the turbo polished, heatshild every single part needed for the install (all)... 1900 + new set up the way I bought it.

Just to compare a stock turbo set up costs:
3 Inch O2 Housing $139.50
SST Turbo $699.50 Core: $200.00
Modified Turbo Manifold $389.00 Core: $100.00 (anyone running a modded stock trubo on a stock manifold does NOT UNDERSTAND AIRFLOW or how the srt4/turbos work, the exahust mani is the bigest limiter to power with the stock set up, not the turbo... replacing the turbo and not the mani and 02housing would be like buying a big ass firehose and hooking up your garden nozzle to it...ya going to work realllllly gooooooddddd).

Waste Gate Actuator $119.50
Manual Boost Controller $49.99 (need one to hold boost up top with these modded turbos could NOT GET MINE to hold more then 17 or so without one..even with the ptp wg).

Total = 699.50 + 389.00 + 119.50 + 49.99 + your stock turbo you send in (worth about 200 on forums/ebay) = 1595.00

I have yet to see a dyno posted with this type of manifold, stock internals, no nos making more then about 335.00 (maxed out). Realturn made more with an extranaly gated mani and WG but that will set you back about 200.00 more for the mani and about 300.00 for the WG

So grand total of 2095.00 will net you about 355HP...

LOL

or you can spend 1800 for a new AGP 50 trim (best quality) or 1450 for a Kinetic 50 trim kit

And be able to make 400hp on pump gas, or run around all day long on 16-18psi making 350-380hp.... No partthrottle overboosting (yes the stock modded turbos still do it a little esp when compared to the great 50 trim) better drivablity and gas milage with the big boy.

My opinon anyway

yea u guys basically made up my mind lol...fiddy trim yo lol...50 trim it is !
Found this thought it was good info about the stock mani:

Reason: see above -^

Compressor ok, turbine small.

More air in --> more exhaust out.

Exhaust restriction/can't get out = higher EGT's.
Force more exhaust through turbine = even higher EGT's.

High EGT's = :stab:
Knock = :stab:

A/F. Knock. EGT's.

Guessing = :eeeek: or :grimrippe
Some more mixed in here on bottem end for srt4: look for posts by Blackbirt r/t... good stuff in there:

some ok info mixed in here on what the stock bottem end can take (along with some bs):

thanx for all the info! :thumbsup:

NOT HERE TO START A PISSING MATCH....but your comparing apples to cheeseburgers bud...the SST is buit to drive like stock, eliminate PTB, look stock to the unsuspecting mustang driver, and give great low end torque..which it does

the fiddy series is built to have boost in the mid 3500 range, unleash hell on all others from a roll and require a good fuel system...which it does, but everyone can see that gigantic snail :readclose

but i bet if both turbos ran at the track the SST would walk the fiddy...this is just a opinion....also on the highway the fiddy will eat the SST

what do you want out of your car? highway or dead stop??? I just ordered my SST/mani package today...all your prices are right but if the turbo doesnt put out 365 with a good tune i will be disappointed but i see it far surpassing that....we will see, personally i want the abilityto raise my hood and have my unsuspecting prey think their racing another 300hp SRT instead of a 365+ beast...either way i think you will be happy

No pissing match. You can check back in once you have owned both set ups (I have) . Drive the modded stock turbo set up for a year, then slap the 50 trim set up on and drive it, then report back.

All I was comparing was cost vs power.

Bud.. :frogtongu :jester: cute...

Glad your happy with less power for the same money on a stock platform that will always make less power and be pushed harder to make what power it does.

Pretty sure you still get PTB with the sst set up just less of it...oh wait you do still get some of it.. how do I know you ask? Oh why I owned one thats how.

Yes, you will be disappointed if realtune could not milk more then 350 (something) out of one (both FM and SST and that was with a HIGHER FLOWING mani with an external WG)

If your going for a stock look buy a Stage3 16G or a FM/SST set up. Would fool people all day long (I guess).

As far as the highway vs dead stop stuff...ever heard of a 2 step>? (new company just came out with one cheap with a trac control built in also) or for the freeway brake boosting..I would avoid the risk of highway racing though

BEST IDEA:
Go find a friend with a properly set up 50 trim that knows how to drive, race him from a stop/roll see what happens

Also take his car out for a day after you get yours set up .. see what one is more fun to daily drive...traffic/stop go ect, ect... I have a good idea of what one is better IMO because I have done this.

if your still happy, thats all that matters.. what this thread was about was providing info to the poster...

mkay....one of the big selling points for the SST is no PTB, and I have a BFMIC, I literally never get PTB as it stands right now :readclose ....a BFMIC seriously changes all of that, but im sure with all the turbos you have been through that you have one of those...

My honest opinion is that a Stage 3 with a 44lb or 47lb wheel will own all and thats what im in the process of finding for the winter....but we'll see

I bought mine yesterday, their has been almost 6 monthes in between that realtune test since i bought mine..... from what Im told Im running a better manifold than the realtune test :readclose....I have a cam and access to a dyno, as well as friends with 50 trims, friends with built strokers and so on....ill post some vids to help people like this deciede .....
i cant wait supermech get those vids up i think half the forum is in the debate... big turbo or modified stocker
