So long story short the car was running really cold and would never heat up.

Replaced the stuck open 160 degree fail safe type thermostat with a regular 180 degree thermostat.

All was good for a while.

Now....with more use of the AC since its been hot outside the car reaches 230 degrees and will not go down!

I noticed only one fan turns on....the other fan doesn't even turn on with it at 230 degrees or slightly higher than 230! When is the second fan suppose to engage?

On my other Srt4 with the Diablo tune both fans turned on......this was pretty ideal to cool down quick!

Is this a water pump issue now? 😳

Do you still have the old thermostat? I would go back to the old one or a new 160 deg stat and see if this resolves your issue. If this does, then the 180 deg stat is the issue.

Just because a item is new, doesn't mean it will work.

I tried bleeding the system via the nipple on the housing near the thermostat. But it was fine....just a smooth stream of coolant. I don't remember if I had the heater on and warmed up.

Months later since its been parked in this hot weather I then ran the heater on and it finally brought the Temps down and all seems normal now. But I haven't driven it since to see if that fixed it. I just left it on parked for a while and it seemed fine. I was so relieved to see normal Temps in the middle or maybe slightly under the middle! But what's the deal with the other fan not coming on?

I may try and bleed it again making sure I note the heater is on and its warmed up. Will update once I drive it again. Is there a fix to reducing the AC clutch engagement? It feels crazy loud when it engages and seems the engine wants to cut off for a moment.

Next on the list is the serpentine belt. Or atleast the one that goes around the AC clutch one. It has a small tear on one side. 😢 Probably from that crazy AC clutch engagement.

So far so good. But seems when I run the AC, the engine Temps rise a bit. Sounds like it should be the opposite?
Not in my experience. AC adds load which can lead to overheating.

Edit: Remember, an air conditioner adds heat to any system (which is why they are installed outside or in a wall). If you left your freezer open all day, you would not cool down your house. You would heat it up.
