re-upholstering front seats

Not sure exactly which section to put this in but here it goes.

I have a 2005 with the viper seats with the original covers on them that are getting pretty worn out, mostly the driver's since I hardly ever have passengers. I went to the dealer to see if I could order some new seat covers and apparently they are discontinued and no longer available, but they told me about an upholstery shop they do business with that is right down the street from my house. I am going to go with perforated suede where the cloth is and do solid suede on the bolsters and the back pouch area. They quoted me around $350 per seat, just doing the two fronts for now. Is this a good price or should I look at another place for lower?

If I went the new seat route, brand new Sparco seats (R100) are $330 each at the cheapest, but still have to get the base, tracks, and mounting brackets/hardware for each seat, plus shipping so the total price of new seats would be more like around $500 per seat. Corbeau has one I like for pretty much the same price too (A4). I really don't need or want new seats because all of the foam padding is still in pretty good condition.

check out katskins they were the ones that did the work for mopar
they don't have our vehicle listed on their site drop-down selections
Did your dealer actually take time to try to find the right part number or just assumed like nearly every other car even a couple years out of production they weren't available? Mopar did another batch of the Viper-style front seat covers in the last year or two and a friend just checked and they showed as still available as of a couple days ago. With good dealer pricing I think they're around $230-250 per seat. If you need replacement foam/cushions they haven't been formally discontinued but are backordered with no info as to future production (if their supplier can still provide them).

If you can find a really, really good upholstery shop they might be able to match the cloth inserts pretty close and maybe even use a better vinyl for the outer portions, but to me nearly all of these are easy to spot and don't have the exact, OEM-like look if that's important. Considering the stock covers are likely going to be cheaper per seat than getting something custom and should hold up for another decade or so if you really take care of them, I'd lean towards that route. There are some nice aftermarket seats but to get a nice quality, safe and comfortable seat you'll be dropping quite a bit of coin once you get all the parts required to mount them.

My out side vinyl seperated the cloth is fine. I was quoted $75 to have mine fixed so I'm thinking I got a great deal, or your getting hosed. It could be a regional pricing as well. Either way ask around, as finding a guy to sell just the lower bolster is very hard and buying a whole seat with shipping is usually more than you got quoted for
It looks like Modern still has the covers for the back portion of the seats, as for the lower seat I think your SOL.

Yes he actually looked and showed me that none of the other dealers in the country had any and they didn't even have any at the national warehouse. I'm not too concerned about looking stock because I want to get away from the vinyl, since it doesn't last very long and gets blazing hot in the summer and super cold in the winter. I was originally trying to just get the covers from the dealer just for the ease of it.

You are just getting yours repaired. I am getting the entire seat, both upper and lower, replaced with all new material. Plus suede is a little more expensive than cloth. Yeah, the cheapest I think I could get some new but different seats is around $500 each.

Yeah, I'm needing both. For some reason both upper and lower right side bolsters are all cracked. I sit pretty straight in the seat and don't really lean to the right.
Have you tried used on Craigslist? I have seen some really good condition ones going for like 100-150 for the pair, but my seats are in acceptable condition.
Nothing around here that have the viper seat. There is only one ad for one seat but it is the style with the adjustable head rest.
I'm with you 1fast4, I'm needing the upper and lower too...Mine are fuked up pretty bad! I had them replaced many years ago under warranty but it's needing done again. I don't see how mine got so messed up, I don't gansta lean, and I'm skinny. (155)
Maybe you slide. Rhink of magnum pi when he gets in the ferarri. He slides his ass on the back of the seat all the way down.
I'm looking for the original vinyl to repair my viper front seats too
