I put the antenna under the top dash panel, in front of the defroster outlet. There's an NVH mat right there, which is some sort of vinyl with a slick surface. Best to just remove that panel and look for a place to stick it.
The database is on the DVD-ROM supplied with the radio. You need to keep the DVD in the radio while navigation is active; thus it's best to also get the in-dash changer. If you don't you won't be able to play CDs while using navigation (though AM/FM and satellite radio will still play.)
Can you punch in a destination and get directions?
There's a small (1.5" x 1.5") puck antenna which you have to mount somewhere in the car, either under the rear package shelf trim or under the dash top panel. When the map is on the display, it'll show your current position and follow as you drive.
