Random miss @ idle.

I have been getting a random miss or something at idle. It hasnt triggered a code and watching the rpm's on the safcII it doesnt change when it does it. I also have a wideband that doesnt show any change when this occurs. It sounds like a pop thru the exhaust. I really noticed it since I put a side exit on the car.

I have just changed plugs (4306's @.030") and reset the cpu. It didnt do it for a couple days then today it came back. What could it be?

Also, I have seen a few posts that for the staged kits this is normal @ idle. Any suggestions?

Mods:
Stage 1
3" SEE
50 trim (no fuel mods and 12psi).
Stock coil
MSD wires

Thanks

Jeremy

R U sure your plugs are good? Mine starts missing at idle almost every time the oil needs changed. I change the plugs and it goes away :)
Either post up a sample of the noise or explain it better. Stock, I know our cars occasionally 'blip' and sound like they're misfiring. Without a better description or an actual example, it'll be hard to tell if something is wrong.

Yeah, I will try to record it today. When idling it will randomly pop thru the exhaust. There is no change in rpm, on the wideband, or the boost gauge. I dont know of a way to explain it any better.

Thanks

Is there a difference when the engine is cold vs. warmed up/hot? I'm pretty sure this is normal for our cars. Still, you are obviously NOT stock anymore...so it's possible something is off.
Yes, It seems to do it way more frequent when its hot. Again, I just dont understand if I can reset the cpu and it will not do it for a couple days.

Well, as you know, there's a period after the reset where the PCM is tweaking itself and learning your driving habits. I really don't think it's anything to worry about. When and if you can, post a recording of it so we can listen. I'm guessing it's like any other SRT-4 idling. :)
Jeremy, bring that thing to Greensburg and lets have a listen to it.
Will you be around this weekend? I have saturday open. I am going to do a compression check and fuel pressure check. After that I could head over. Let me know.

Thanks Kane.
It would have to be later in the day. I've got to go to a wedding then we could look at it.

P.s. know anyone that wants to buy a Valiant????????
Actually, I might now someone who might. Can you send pics and info? Give me a call when you get home and I will head over.

See ya
Sorry, still no video yet. But, I did some more tests over the weekend. I did a compression check and a fuel pressure test. Compression was 160,163,160,165. And the fuel pressure was 60psi @ idle. The car had been sitting for about 30min. when we done the fuel check and I let it idle until it started making the poping noise thru the exhaust. With the hood up it didnt start until 200deg. And everytime it did it the fuel pressure moved about 1-2 psi.

I shut the car off and was un hooking the gauge from the rail and I noticed bubbles come out of the rail. I am either getting the fuel too hot or something is getting air in it.

I have a 180 deg stat in it so my normal cruising is 180-190deg. So, I know when I had the hood up it took longer to get the "under hood" temps up.

Hope this sparks some ideas.

Thanks
go buy yourself some Dieelectric Grease. Its about 1 buck at autozone and its usualy in the front counter. Apply it liberaly to the boots.

Alot of times the spark jumps to the head vs teh plug so insulate the wires better by using the grease. Let me know when i works cause i dont check this section much.
