Just installed the race pipe tonight I was allittle nervus :? because I didn't know exactly how the car would respond since nobody has run an SRT without the cat yet ( as far as I know ). Last week I had a flange put in after my cat, where the slip joint is. Then they made a pipe for me with a flexjoint flange on one end and a flange on the other, they also put in a threaded O2 sensor hole in the right place. Well since it wasn't legal for them to keep it in my car they had to put the cat back in. Well tonight I had the time and swaped them out.
Let me tell you...that cat does alot of muffeling because it is WAY louder than it was stock. It sounds KILLER while it is idleing Like a V-8  , while eccelerating there are a couple of RPM ranges that it gets pretty loud at and I'm just talking gentelly giving it gas. When you get into it make sure your not by any nieghbore hoods or your local sheriff. It is very loud, VERY LOUD. It seems to run very good and have a smoother ecceleration. It sounds so good when you really open it up, It also makes you look over your shoulder to make sure a cop didn't hear you. But I won't know what real performance increase it gives till I can get to the track again.
I'm going to try to get some audio from outside and inside but I don't know if it will sound the same or not.
I'll probebly run it like this a couple of days and then put the cat back in so I don't get a ticket and my wife would like it better quieter also.
I guess another good part is I found out that you don't have to have the O2 sensor in a Cat, because the check engine light never even blinked. I was alittle afraid it would come on and not go off.
