I was passing a car today, and when I went into boost, I noticed a low-toned grinding (loud enough to cancel-out most of the sucking noise from the turbo) coming from the intake. I'm still running my stock turbo (almost 60k miles on it), and I'm thinking it might be taking a dump on me.

My first thought was my clutch was going on me, but I didn't notice any slipping or clunky engagement. Still a possibility, but I don't think so.

When I got home, I took off my intake to see if there was any shaft-play or damaged fins on the compressor wheel. I didn't notice anything. I also checked my lines and hoses for kinks, holes and what-not and everything seems to be in place.

Can anyone shed any light on what might be going on?
