Well I finally pulled the valve cover off this weekend and painted it up....Was very easy, put plan on having the car down about a day or two to do it right....Pulled it off Saturday morning and began cleaning it....Soaked it in degreaser with HOT water for about an hour and the scrubbed the crap out of it....Sprayed it off with brake cleaner and then (here was the trick), ran it through the dishwasher when the wife left to go shopping....It is amazing how clean it was after that step....Then sprayed it down one more time with brake cleaner....

Took it to the basement and put about 6 coats of Dupli Color blue caliper paint w/ ceramic on it. It takes heat well and covers nicely....I let it cure for about 2 hours then put it in the overn at 170 for about 30 minutes....then set it out over night....Reinstalled it Sunday morning and let it sit all day, after runup and leak check....Drove into work today and polished the letters and it looks great....Almost as good a powder coat job for about 5% the cost....Total was about $10 for the brake cleaner and can of paint....Just plan on leaving the car down for at least a day because of the cure time....WIll try and get pics later....

The blue on mine is Krylon Plastic Fusion Paint.
I then took off the paint on the letters by razor blade and used a silver paint marker to color the letters in and used the marker to have the instructors sign it.

oh, and the valve cover and intake are powder coated by glacius.

Just figuring out how to host pics, so I hope this works....

Looks good.
I went with powdercoat with metal flake. Got it for $90.00 and it included the oil cap and new valve cover w/gasket. I still got my old valve cover.

Take one in the daytime. Looks good. How much time and money to do both?

It was $30 for the stainless injector cover, and it took about $10 in material to do the valve cover and about 2 hours of actual work....Keep the car down at least 24 hours for the paint to cure though...$10 included $5 for paint, and $5 for brake cleaner spray....Fairly easy and very cheap....Still have about half the can of both, so I guess it cost $5.......

Definatly looks sweet man! Painted valve covers make the engine look sooo much better. When i replaced my motor, i painted mine and the injector cover with the same automotive paint i repainted my front bumper with. Cant remember what type of paint it was though. Did that 10,000 miles ago and so far, it still looks awesome.
