How much damage to your car do you do when you run it open boost and drive like this all the time? My friend has a black SRT-4 and he's running open boost, so far nothing has happened as of yet. But i got this strange feeling in my stomach that sooner or later he's going to get the check engine light or the car is just going to crap out on him. So what really goes on when you run open boost?

Sorry im a turbo n00b.

I must be an even bigger turbo n00b. What is "running open boost"?

there is already 1 person that i know of that grenaded their engine by running an open vac line. look at peoples posts they are getting pinging at 17 psi on 91 octane. im at 19 and i use 93 only and if im going to the track the car gets octane boost. hes probably running 22-25 psi on 91 or 93 hes gonna be kissing his engine goodbye soon. not a smart idea, the bleeder valve is easy, costs like $3 all together and will give u 19 psi. no need to risk it by running an open WG.

You need bigger fuel injectors when you're runing that kind of boost - higher octane fuel helps, but really you should get maybe 20% or 30% bigger injectors. More boost needs more fuel - if you skimp, you'll likely end up ruining your engine. as someone once said, boost is like Crack - do it in moderation. The car is already fast - it can go faster, just do it right, and don't look for cheap shortcuts.
