To all:

We are starting this new thread as an update, given that the other threads have gotten so long - it should make for an easier read. It is also a place to record customer sign-ups

There has been discussion in the forum about two types of projector kits that people would like to see - one being an opaque, paintable ABS housing that carries the projectors (which we are dealing with here) and the second being projectors behind clear acrylic (which we cannot unfortunately produce).

We're moving, by the way, on lights for the CURRENT body style Neon / SRT. The prior generation is very close but uses different mounting brackets... modification may be possible but we're not sure just yet.

Anyway - for those of you who have been following the issue, here's the scoop: to go any further we must make a significant financial committment to make the projectors happen (we must commit to 300 units).

We'd like to ask for 40 people as a minimum to commit to orders with a modest deposit of 40 bucks. The deposit will be non-refundable, unless of course something unforseen were to happen that would stop ultimate production.

If we have 50 or more committed deposits, we will offer the 40 bucks back in a discount off the final retail. We realize that there is a large signup on another forum, but that forum shows two kinds of projectors... and we're just talking about the one style (concept photos and more info below)

Here's the procedure if you want in:

1.) Copy this as a subject line: NEON PROJECTOR DEPOSIT
2.) Send an email to us at [email protected]
3.) Include your name, billing address, shipping address if different, and PHONE NUMBER.
4.) We will contact you for payment information for your deposit. If you wish to use PayPal, you may PayPal the 40.00 to us at [email protected], but please still email us above.
5.) You will be placed on the list, and will receive your lights in the order we received your emails when they ship.
6.) (Optional) come back here and post "I'M IN" for fun :)

TIMELINE:
After we have 40 solid signups with deposits, we will run cards for the 40.00 deposit payment and our partners in Europe will get us a prototype for fitment (4 weeks schedule). As soon as we receive prototypes we will post photos separate and on a vehicle. The production lights will be ready in 6 to 7 weeks following the prototype. We will take complete payment for the light orders sometime in that period (this payment WILL be refundable however).

COST:
The retail for the lights will be between $560.00 and $590.00. Anyone in the initial purchase will receive $40.00 off retail as above (provided we have 50 minimum as above). Shipping on these is typically 14 - 17 bucks in the lower 48 states.

ABOUT PROJECTORS: The projector lights come with halogen bulbs, and not HID (some folks get confused on the difference between projectors and HIDs). An HID kit would go nicely in them however...

OTHER DETAIL:
1.) The light assemblies are DOT approved;
2.) These are NOT the cheap projectors available for the first gen. Neon... these are a high quality ABS housing that looks great even unpainted. The mounting points are strong and we have three years' experience selling these kits for other cars.
3.) Each projector assembly can be independently aimed
4.) We offer clear protective lens tape kits for these for other cars and will do the same for these
5.) We will carry a stock of spare / replacement parts in the US for them
6.) This is not just an appearance mod - the lights do improve foul weather vision as they have a solid cutoff line on low beam, and the highs are stronger than stock.

Sincerely,
Ken Cole

Hate to rain on your party, but I think that the majority of the people want the clear housed ones.. I may be wrong, so I guess only time will tell if you get the 40 people minimum..

ones like evo77's old design would sell like crazy. Clear lensed, black housing, you know the wrx style ones. I would already be making a deposit if it were those.

If I may ask, what brand projectors (valeo, hella, etc.) are you using in your housing? Or do you make the actual projector components yourself?

Vio and Dark -

Yep, we knew that the 100+ in the other thread may have been interested in the clears... but we saw a lot of interest in ours as well, particularly in the first thread that was started.

Joey -

I believe that these are Valeo, as with all the other kits that have been done - but for this project they are using a new DOT approved projector (will confirm manufacture - but believe Valeo as well)

Blue -
aaaaack.... :buah: please don't say APC in any post we start :). Kidding, a bit, but really we try to carry parts that are on the OPPOSITE side of the spectrum from APC (meaning we like only high quality stuff...)

Seriously - as a courtesy I'll ask that discussions about other brands and "what ifs" be left to the other two threads open on projectors... but that the topic on this thread stay related to the ones we're moving on.

Thanks for the good thoughts lads, keep the questions coming if you like!

Regards,
Ken

Some other photos...

This will show you how the lights will look on a lighter color (of course, this is a Subaru). You can see how the parking light setting illuminates some small markers in the high beams, which is a particularly nice touch.

We can also arrange to paint the covers to your paint code specification for $80.00.

First of all, I would like to thank Ken for stepping up to the plate and deciding that HE is the guy that wants our money.

Now, folks ... here's the deal. We can gripe, complain and wait all we want. Simple fact is, this is all we have. If all we can get right now is the non-clear lensed projector ... we'll work with what we have. If ya want projectors in your car, if you want HID but are waiting on a projector ... this is it. So there's no pretty, protective, clear lens. At least it's a quality projector headlight. Being impatient and leaning towards "instant gradification" ... I'll probably be sending my deposit next week and signing up for these lights. Don't wait too long to see if the clear lensed ones show up, or you'll be so far down on the list that you won't get your lights until 2010.

Thanks again and big props to Ken and the people at RallyPerformance!

More pics - again, just to show colors / ideas / possibilities

The 02/03 Impreza when stock also has oval headlight assemblies...

that are transformed by the kit as well - this owner got creative with the color scheme, looks good with the c/f hood.

The gloss black shown on the photo above was painted on... the lights will be coming stock with a flat ABS plastic finish (NOT the cheap, greasy, glossy plastic on some other replacement kits you see).

I'll pass, I'd rather wait for a clear housed design. Either way though, I'm really glad someone is taking this project up!

One trick for competition

Besides the better lighting pattern that we like with the kit... when you go rallying / autocrossing, etc, you can remove the high beam assembly and fit a ram air scoop to the intake

So

So, enough pics of other cars. A stock SRT will spank a stock WRX anyway, eh :).

BUT, if anyone wants to see a particular color, I'll chase it down if possible. You won't be disappointed with them.

Ken
