Here are some threads that may help in relation to:
1. WHY you should use a relay harness or upgrade your wiring
2. What PnP HID kits and other higher wattage aftermarket bulbs can do
3. If your car's symptoms match these, this could be your culprit.
The Multifunction switch is the switch inside your steering column that controls your headlights, foglights, turn signals, etc. and operates off a large pin gray connector. Many symptoms can be displayed that would relate to a fried switch or melted connector. These threads have multitudes of information on this subject.
I don't think people realize how much stuff is ran through the MFS. Then when people add higher wattage halogen bulbs (ie: 85w Nokyo), or splice power for guages into existing wires, etc... it can add up quick. Adding HID's (especially in both the fogs & heads) adds some serious draw/ load on the system.
I won't sell a set of HID's with out a relay harness is for exactly this reason. A relay harness will take power directly from the battery for the ballasts instad of being drawn through the MFS harness.
Upgrading your interior & extrior lighting to Led's like Wiggyx & myself now offer will also reduce the load being placed on he crappy MFS thus helping to avoid these problems all together. I hate diagnosing & fixing electrical issue so I like being proactive. You know the saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"!
Speaking of melted connectors... here's some side marker sockets that were melted with halogen bulbs in them. I had to replace them with new sockets & add LED's which have ran much cooler & less load.

Hmmm I used to run with my fogs on all the time when I had my headlights on, and it fried my connector and the multifunction switch. Sad thing is everything was stock. I am about to switch all of my lighting over to led. I have the repair kit for my connector, but it's such a pita to solder when you have so little room and not much slack in the wires.
There really isn't a great PnP led forthe sodemarkers. It's mainly because of the shallow design which doesn't allow much room for the light to reflect. Some led strips or amcustom board about he only way to get the entire sidemarker to fully illuminate.
I had tried that, getting these things apart is a bitch (I have one apart already) and finding a strip that fits in them is even harder since it's such a shallow mount. I'll finish them eventually. I have 11ty billion other projects to do first. Or at least it seems that way.
im having this problem with my connectors i changed one side and still nothing the other side is melted bout still works i have hids headlights and fogs can somebody send me a link so i can get what i need to solve this headache
Is there anywhere else i can get the wiring harness that plugs into the mfs other than the dealer? I need another new one. This will be my 3rd one. This time i have a relay for my hid's, stock fog bulbs, leds in my hvac and soon to have leds for my cluster as well. Hoping this will be the last time this pos melts
No idea if this has been seen before but here goes. I just finished swapping an srt engine and trans into an 02 neon and I'm having a few electrical gremlins.
It started with just my left front blinker not working whether the signal is coming from the turn signal, hazards, or when the lights are...
So it has been snowing for a while and I have been driving my srt4 and I as I was driving one of my light bulbs was not working and then as I drove the light of my dashboard turned off and it won’t turn on anymore do you guys have any ideas in what can i check ?
Hey everyone, hopefully ill see some old members here. I haven't been on the forums in a long long time, but I need some help with this.
My Dome light will not work (not with door open and not with the MFS flipped to the on position)
My Trunk light will not work
everything else seems to be...
Any ideas on getting out a broken end of an oil pressure guage? Went to remove from the oil housing and the end of the copper presure guage snapped at the threads leaving the threads still inside the housing?
Update: pics back up!! The last 5 images are LINKED because of the 30 image per single post limit. they are there you just have to clcik the link!!!
This should be noted that this was before I did my use of the stock adjust so this will make you have to adjust the lights from the rear of the...
