What would just taking the lid off of the stock intake and mounting the bracket somewhere else do? Wouldn't this technically be transforming your stock box into a short-ram air intake?
I can't see any reason why this would be a bad idea but let me know if I'm missing something.

You'd be better off finding a way to remove the bottom. You'll have to cut the plastic, but there is a big pocket of empty (and much cooler) air underneath the airbox. If you're running a K&N air filter, this will give you more direct airflow into the filter, without sucking hot air from just under the hood.

Cut the airbox away from the car completely then you have just a intake tube and a filter on the end just like short ram intake :jester:   :readclose :crybaby: :crying: :eeeek: :frogtongu :deadcow:  :ninja: :buah: :eeeek: :crying: :hi:
I'm gonna stick with stock box and drop in filter.
