When I push the throttle past over the half way the engine hesitates and farts but all the way before the half, the engine works perfectly (maybe not exactly the half but around), runs smoothly and fast as it should.
A few weeks ago I replaced the timing belt, so my first question is:

If I misplaced the timing belt alignment, should the engine fail all the time or just from too much fuel in the cylinders?

Also I'm only getting around 15 MPG, there are no error codes and I know that I need to check spark plugs, wires and other components but this is my main concern at the moment, the timing belt set up.

Thanks
