"Shift brake?"Chuck adds a shift brake to his shifters. I've always liked the 50% reduction one he installed on my SRT.
Sorry, I should have written "rod brake". Others can explain this better than me."Shift brake?"
Like a stop or something?
In Chuck's email to me he said all trans issues need to be taken care of first or the STS can exacerbate the issues. So makes sense ppl would initially get extenders over an STS.I tend to see two different camps around here, and I was hoping someone might explain. STS doesn't seem to be a popular mod compared to say, 3rd gear shift extenders. Why does one camp go with one, while the other does what seems to be the opposite? Or am I misunderstanding things?
How would the two work together? Wouldn't they cancel each other out? I think I'm misunderstanding what the extender is.In Chuck's email to me he said all trans issues need to be taken care of first or the STS can exacerbate the issues. So makes sense ppl would initially get extenders over an STS.
So the extender does not affect throw distance?Extender engages the actual gear more iirc. The STS just reduces the physical throw distance of the shifter, it doesn't engage the gear any more.
Oh, I understand the STS. I guess I just don't understand the extender. No I don't believe so. The shift cables still move the same length with an STS you're just not moving your hand as far physically.
Which fork did you replace it with?Just got it back from the shop, and yeah my fork was worn af. But it seems like 3rd pop out is gone with the extenders in and it shifts so smooth now. My old clutch was definitely not disengaging fully.
