So have the opportunity to buy a 05 Orange Blast fully modded with 23k miles on it. Problems with car: Has OLD AGP 50 trim turbo, has ABS light and e-brake light on w/o ebrake pulled. Has RC1000 injectors unknown if it has a resistor box or injector driver. Dash defrost vent broke and gone.
2nd Car: 05 White ACR w/113k miles bone stock, kicker sound system, sunroof, 6 disc changer. Problems: holes in bumper from front plate, black wheels have road rash on every wheel not bad but visisble. Interior is pretty dirt. No maintenance records, no proper check out of car. Claims rims and drives perfect!!
05 Black ACR w/78k miles same options as above white ACR but is 100% stock minus CAI. Has BBS wheels (white ACR above does not) Problems: dash is visually crack by guage pod and defrost vent is broken out as well.
All have no accidents reported! Which would ypu choose?

Depends what you're looking for. If you're just going to modify the car and slap a big turbo on it might be better to start with the car that already has one. Then again, if you swap a lot of stuff you'd have to deal with how the previous owner(s) modified the car.

For me personally, with the age of the cars it's getting really tough to find nice paint, clean interiors and other trim, so a few mechanical items wouldn't bother me too much outside a bad trans.

Honestly IDK want. Like with anything I personally cant never leave anything alone. I know these cars inside and out. But I want to DD whatever car I choose. I really want the white ACR but it has no records, coming out of Tx is scary with all the flood vehicles coming out of there. Bald tires, some issue with the nack seats, and their check out process is they drove it around and seems good. The only thing that I keep going back to is the 23K miles. I really dont care for the way the car is built, I will of course sell parts off it and make it my own. I like stock but I find myself shopping for upgrades already. So just looking for others opinions to bring some reality to the situation.

I am leaning towards the Black ACR, for a DD I would want it as stock as possible. But you said you tend to want to tinker. That would be a good start also, as you would be adding and upgrading as you go along and not replacing someone else's mods.

without driving it or even hearing the engine running in person, I wouldnt buy any of them regardless unless you have more money than sense. Way too much shit can be wrong with it that a normal mechanic not familiar with these particular cars can easily miss.

The Orange one was sent to Performance Autowerks where they verified all the parts, test drove it, compression check the motor and checked the transmission for any issues. If you know them they specialise in SRT4s. The only comment they made was the old AGP 50trim likes to burn oil and suggests replacing it. I have a replacement turbo already so that's not an issue. Also have a set of ID1000 injectors to also replace the RC injectors if I go that route.

I was going to say that the orange one looked intriguing. E brake issues can often be fixed with a new cable. Might sound daunting but it isn't too bad, usually the old cable is just hanging up. They are FAR better than the old 2.2 and 2.5 Ebrake setup from the late 80's early 90's. As I understand it, replacing the cable is not too hard either. As far as the vents, you can go do a local U PULL IT, most if not all of the vents match every 1999+ Neon out there.

I picked up the 05 OR blast. I have two spare dashes in my garage. Ebrake issue is easy fix as well, might even be wiring that is messed up since the turbo timer wires in that area of the ebrake(maybe). The ABS light should be an easy fix as well. I have an 03 SRT4 in my garage so I have a full parts bin in that car also. That one is getting fully striped down to body, seat, motor, and cage. I want one I can drive around daily and one to race.

I do believe that link needs some fact checking. "Worlds biggest" SRT-4 meet? I do believe our SoCal Union Dodge meet back in '04 had 160 cars on the dealer parking lot and more out on the street... :hi: ;)
That may be true for back in 2004, but not so much now. :frown:
