just wondering if i had a boost leak would it definately show a low number on my boost gauge which is currently reading 18 psi and holding ,but it feels as if i lost some power...if so what are the spots i can check for boost leaks

first try to tighten the clamps on the pressurized hoses. There is one on the bottom of the turbo, one under the engine , one on the entry to the intercooler, one on the exit of the intercooler and one at the throttle body. Then zip tie some of the vacuum hoses around the throttle body area they can leak easily.

If you feel a loss of power sometimes the pcm will retard timing when boost gets too high as a safeguard, you might be running too high boost if you are running 18 psi . I know when I used to hit 20 psi the car felt slower as well , I think the stock setup is best around 16-17 psi.
