K&N CAI sounds

I installed the K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake on my car yesterday and I was wondering if the sounds I am hearing are supposed to be happening. I hear a whiz sound while accelerating, I am assuming this is air being sucked in? Then when I let off the gas I hear a flutter sound. This flutter is everytime I let of the gas, even if I am not getting on it. Someone told me that the flutter might be my wastegate. Is that correct? Then when I get on it and I am high in boost, by BOV will go off. But from inside the car, the flutter sound is louder than the BOV sound. So from start to finish I hear: whiz, flutter, pssshhh (BOV).

Are these sounds correct or did I install something wrong?

Thanks,
Jennifer

I am in Western NC, in the mountains. And no, I have never been to Fayetteville. I go to Charlotte some, but no further than that. Maybe sometime we all can have a NC SRT-4 meet.

Sweet! Thanks. That sound in that video sounds kinda like a BOV. But I guess it is distorted some from the video vs. in car.

Thanks again,
Jennifer
i get those exact same sounds as well. my friend and i went to watch autox today and i let him drive he back. he knows a lot more about cars than i do, and the whiz and flutter are normal. now the flutter isn't necessarily good, but it's not bad either. and i don't know if this is true, but he is thinking the car has a stock BOV. i hadn't heard the noise before today, but when he floored it and wot shifted it made a bov noise. now maybe that started with the help of S1 installed. i don't know, just my .02

Hey Jennifer....... see ya got the intake on,

All the sounds your describing are completely normal. The air being sucked in the "flutter" is compressor surge that was always ther but muffled by the stock box, and the factory BOV can not be heard as well.
Sweet, thanks Roman. I don't know why I didn't just PM you in the first place. I just wanted to make sure that I got it on there correctly.

Thanks again.

Did it all get to you ok? hope you enjoyed my packaging LOL...... I didnt want any scratches or debris getting into the intake tubes.
Yep, mine sounds the same. I've heard on here several times that the flutter has always been there, you just can't hear it with the stock airbox. In fact if you take the intake off altogether, you can REALLY hear the flutter. I've heard it called "compressor stall." It has something to do with the turbo spinning faster than the air going through it, so the wheel stalls, then catches up again, then stalls ... that's the flutter.

I love the sound of the K&N when you stomp on it, you get that massive whooshing sound down front where the filter is. HEHEHEHEHE!!

Everything came fine. I appreciate all the extra packaging. That way it was safe. I love it, it sounds great, I just wanted to make sure I was hearing the right sounds. It opened up a lot of room under the hood. Thanks again!
