Question for all owners. Is the car suppose to jerk when its in netural. I just got the car and we drove it from Clearwater to panama city fl. (bout 6 1/2 hr trip). I was driving a couple of friends around in it and i noticed that when i was at the red light. the car was jerking almost like a jumping thing. any thought would be great.

Nope, NOT supposed to jerk. I would keep a watchful eye out on that one. If it keeps up, bring it to a dealer and have it checked out.
"throw it in the gutter and go by another" Eazy E
I think I know what you are talking about. Mine did that too when I first got it. I don't notice it any more.
Yeah its not like its bad or anything. Im thinking it has something to do with the exhuast cause its coming from the back. Im gonna keep a watch on it but if it stops then im not gonna be too concerned about it. i have to wash it cause its soo dirty right now. The car actually shocked me. we hit some bad weather on the way home from the dealer and it handled very well. lol i just got it yesterday and already have 600 mls on it. 500 are highway cause of that 8 hour trip we had to make to get it. Lets just say I have been turning heads all day. twisted

doing pretty damn good. no complaints from me about the car. The only thing i dont like about the car is the shifter knob, the antenna, and the pin stipe. but those are easy to get rid of  I just gotta learn how to handle my shifting rite, i previously owned a 92 laser pos. where the clutch was about to go out. but i only stalled out 2 times and that was at the dealership and i havent grinded the gear. so the question is how you doin?

damn, florida? ill be right down. im leaving now. i guess i can get me an srt-4 while im there.
Sorry LID, not trying to move in on your post...

Turbochick,

Congratulations on your new ride. I picked mine up yesterday from Tampa and did the 9 hour drive back to Alabama. I ran through a lot of bad weather as well, but all is well. The jumping that you're talking about, is it like the idle is surging? I noticed on the way back that if I was sitting at a redlight with the clutch in that it sounded like the idle speed was surging up and down a little, but the tach wasn't moving up and down to corroborate that. Does that sound like what yours was doing?

I can tell you what problem is: check out the wiring or have the mechanic look at the throttle sensor wiring for a short.

After talking to a Dodge engineer, this seemed to be a common problem with a throttle sensor wiring being to tight. Howeve, when the mechanic is looking, have them check the sensor itself to ensure it is functional.

It started on mine and progress to a 1,500-2,100RPM when coming to light. The RPM either races or the rough idle is too radical from 550-1100.

Anyway, you will eventually receive a code P0121-Throttle Sensor after 1500 miles or so based on the wiring begin to deteroriate.

So my advice is to take it in and have the mechanic to check the wiring first for a short.
no thats not it. the idle doesnt jump around. its just seems like something is kicking underneath the back. Like i said before i think it has something to do with the exhaust. i didnt notice it to much today. but i will keep an eye out for it and watch the idling to make sure its not jumping around.
kicking in the back? hmmm, check to make sure that the exhaust is in the grommets. dont know why that would affect the engine though.

That is how my started over 2K miles ago.

Trust me...I did some talking to the actual engineer on the developement (today at the LA Import show) car with the same problem.

you should make the trip out here. we are gonna go to autocross in a few weeks, im not gonna run though. My brother has a 2002 celica and i figure i can show off my car while im there. probably at the end of the month some friend of mine are gonna go to drag stip, it will be nice to smoke um!

I guess i didnt describe what the feeling was right the first time. its just like a little kicking in the back. i will probably bring it to the dealers some time next week if its still happening.

Yeah so am i lol, this car is very different than my old car. so everything that the car does is new to me and I am just learning as i go
the funniest thing though, is i had a backseat driver the whole way home and i was by myself. my mom drove me down there and she was following me home. she kept calling me on my cell and was like " do you know how fast your going" and " you need to follow me". The thing is she makes me car sick lol. on the intersate she will change lanes back and forth and there is no one behind or in front of her.
