I was thinking about getting a hks turbo timer, but i was just making sure if it is worth spending money on. If it is, what are some reliable turbo timers around? thanks

I would recommend it but if you dont have the extra cash for it you can just buy a stop watch and sit in the car for a minute instead, lol. I have the Apexi and I like it, small and easy to install. Modern performance sells it for like $90. Turbo timer or just sitting in the car make sure you let the turbo cool down before you turn it off.

Stock turbo? not really. Just drive slow before you get to your destination and sit for a minute if anything.:hi:
If it was necessary it would have came stock. They are necessary if you change out to an oil cooled turbo but not so with water cooled turbos. After a hard run or long highway driving you should idle the car for about a minute before shutting it off but that's about it. There are a gazillion 1.8T's 4G63's etc on the streets driven by people that don't even know what a turbo timer is and turbocharger failure isn't that common.

In theory your turbo may last longer with a TT but by the time the turbo dies of old age you probably won't have the car anymore anyway.
if you read in the manual for SRT-4 read what it says for letting the turbo cool down properly.
Don't beat up on your car for the last mile of your commute and the turbo will outlive the rest of your car... good luck.
Iv'e never had one & i have 55K , & my turbo is just like new, no sideplay er nothing,....ya just gotta drive normal for the last couple min's., IMO, a TT is just another thing to attract thieves.
I was wondering can't someone steal your car when you have a turbo timer? The engine is left on when you shut the car off. I also am curious if you need a turbo timer or not. Everyone i know who has a STI/EVO/Turbo Civic has a turbo timer.

The keys are taken out of the ignition. As soon as the ebrake would get put down, the car would shut off no matter if it is done with the count down or not. If you want to ''waste'' money, you can buy a turbo timer, especially if you are lazy. I for one had one in a few of my cars, but right now it's the last thing on my ''to buy'' list.
As stated before... its completely unessescary if you drive easy the last couple minutes for parking.
