Eventhough I have am having an issue with the cold side pipe (some hard pipes should solve that issue) here are some pics of the install I did today:

I plan on painting it black at some date in the future. Just wanted to share my adventures for today.

if you need some paint to paint it just let me know ... i have an extra can of satin black radiator paint and that's what you'd want to use on it (any other paint will be too thick & cause heatsoak)

anyways, looks good dude ... where'd you get the fmic? i'm guessing srt4fun80 since it has "SWIFT" plastered on it

How does it feel?
Right now...not so great...can't keep the cold side pipe on (stock) so I am going to buy a set of hard pipes and see if this solves the problem.
Im so proud of you

very nice Steve
Looks good Steve. A couple of things if you don't mind.

1. Hard pipes a must.
2. Cold air intake too.

Why did you take the head lights out? Really no need to do that . . . extra work.

I would recommend not painting the intercooler. You would be somewhat reducing the cooling efficiency of the unit.

I would also highly recommend a crash bar. I don't thing you have one installed.

What is that large stain on the radiator core?

I don't think I ever heard of a SWIFT intercooler. Whose design is that?

1. Hard pipes just ordered 5 minutes ago.
2. I had an issue with a CAI that required me to replace my short block. Might get another one not too sure.
3. Took the headlights out for their safety...I was working on the car and that would be one more thing that I would break accidentily.
4. Well I want to get rid of the words on the IC so either I paint it black or I remove it (which I have no IDEA how to do)
5. Crash bar will be a future purchase (probably before the CAI)
6. Large stain...I dunno..maybe my car has an issue (wouldn't be the first time.) I did just wash the car prior to doing this install so that might have something to do with it.
7. Read #4.

ed, you got any more info on this? i've always read that spraying an ic with radiator paint will lower the effiency by less than .01% .... do you have any more facts/info to prove that it's more than that? only reason im asking is bc my ic is black and i'll remove the paint if it's reducing the effiency by a considerable amount
I dont think it is "that" noticeable but I wouldnt recommend it either.

From all I read it’s minimal. But with that said, I'm an old school guy and have worked on many aircraft which have oil coolers/IC's etc. and they are natural aluminum. When you paint them with paint, you're basically preventing them from radiating the heat. So that has always been my preference. Paint will also fill in microscopic holes in the metal thus reducing the natural efficiency of the surface.

I always let Swain Technology figure out what's best when it comes to coating intakes, turbos, turbo housings, exhaust systems and internal engine parts. If Dale Earnhardt Enterprises uses them, then there're good enough for me.
ok..well since there might be an efficiency issue with painting the IC, how would you guys recommend removing the paint that is on there now?

Steve,

Unless your getting advertising royalties from Swift, :jester: try some lacquer thinner.

I hear you, downtime isn't good and I'm still pulling my hair out or what I have left of it waiting on vendors.
