IAT Sensor fitment

I want to know what you guys are doing with the IAT Sensor that plugs into the intake. I ordered an e-bay intake for time being since my stock one was deterorating and wasn't safe to run anymore. The problem is that the whole on the intake for the IAT is wayyy to far for the IAT sensor to actually plug in. Did you guys cut the wires and extend it? and is it safe to keep it unplugged for now? I actually have the IAT sesnor pinned next to the cone filter and fender area for is doesnt bounce around for now. Thanks guys.

Thats another reason I chose the plastic K&N intake. I didnt want a filter in the fender, metal piping, and I liked the shroud thing. Plus it has a place to mount your Vaccum/boost fittings.

is your IAT sensor plugged into the actual filter? or just pinned next to it? my filter is in the same exact spot.
Your talking about the ambient air sensor. The intake air sensor is the one on the cold side pipe, just before the throttle body.

To answer your question, you can leave it pinned like you have it. Some intakes, such as the K&N system above do just what you are doing.

good to know. thank you. and just for future reference...what does this sensor do?? i mean if it can be dangling..what purpose did it serve in the 1sth place.
I believe the computer takes that into account combined with the Intake Air Sensor.
