So I headed down to the dragstrip last night, and while sitting in the pit area, a srt-4 pulls up next to me. This doesn't happen, there are only about 4 in MI. The car has manufacture plates, and some box in the passenger seat that's logging everything. Turns out the guy is from PVO, and he's come down to learn how to drag. His toy is PVO's test mule for a stage 1 !!! Of course he's tight lipped about the whole thing. Should be out 'soon', don't know the cost, can't say HP numbers.... But, when I ran him for his first time on the strip, he pulled on me much like a honda can't.. His first run ever was a [email protected] with a 2.5 60' time!! Later in the day, he managed a 13.75!! And this is at Milan, where there is no traction. My best run was 14.268 @ 98.87. That upgrade is BADASS. I can't wait to find out how much / HP....

BTW, he also has an upgraded SRT he is driving in the One Lap this year, starting in about a week. Keep an eye on this car!

It was a red mule. I have video, but it doesn't show anything good. They didn't have the score boards on, so you can't tell how fast it was or anything.

No lsd. The car had no weight reduction (no spare removal or anything else), extra weight of the box in the passenger seat. The tires were air'd down to 24psi. 13.75 was a damn good run for this car. At a better track, i'd guess a 13.5 would be easy. Not bad since it's just an ecu change and some injectors..

I'll see what I can find out at Onelap... it's amazing what you can learn from sleep deprived engineers when you feed them beer at the after-event party :)

I really, really hope this guy can drive... Dodge has a habit of sending great cars with drivers who couldn't find their way out of a parking garage. There's no way I should have beat their Viper entry with a stock ACR two years in a row (98 and 99). Recently, they've been better, hiring drivers to run the event winning Vipers, but I have a feeling that the SRT won't have Brian or Spencer piloting it... rumor has them in the new Viper roadster...

Year after year factories enter cars without looking at the people who they give them to... Last years factory WRX entry was wrecked the first day, which saved them a lot of embarrassment of finishing last for the rest of the event.

But anyway, if you want to see this Stage 1 SRT in real life, get yourself to one of the tracks we'll be visiting. Off-hand, I know we'll be at Watkins Glen, New York, Summit Racing in Ohio, Tire Rack and Indianapolis Raceway in Indiana, Road America in Wisconsin, Memphis Motorsports in Tennessee, Tulsa and Hallet in Oklahoma, Carolina Motorsports in one of the Carolinas, and Beaver Run in Pennsylvania

Admission is free, bring us gatorade and sandwiches, look for the red 97 Saturn burning 30 pounds of nitrous in about 10 minutes...

Well, this driver is an engineer. He's been practicing at CPG and was learning the tree last last night. I guess the car their taking to OneLap is a monster. Upgraded suspension, HP, all kinds of stuff. We'll see how it does. The other pvo guy there last night is piloting the 03 Viper in onelap this year.

I'm not sure. From what Mopar had listed last year, stage 1 includes injectors and an ECU. Anyone know general prices for injectors? I'm guessing they flash your ecu instead of shipping a new one, but it might be an add on type box. I'd *guess* somewhere below $700, but how far below, nobody knows.

Do they race at Summit? The website just says "passage control". They should be at Summit from 7pm to 10pm on Saturday May 3rd. If I don't have to work, i'd make the drive. It's only about 1.5hrs down the turnpike for me.

just a heads up not sure what cc your injectors are stock but upgraded injectors are not cheap. i would guess that injectors alone owuld cost around the 500-700 dollar range. Maybe dodge can produce them for cheaper are use a model of injector out of a larger motor (that would be tits, anyone try an injector swap from a dodge v6 or v8?). I would think as well that it would be a simple flash, might do the whole core/swap deal to make things smoother.

Sounds good cant wait to hear some firm numbers and prices.

I wouldn't be suprised if they are pulling from the corprate parts bin to keep cost down. Then again I wouldn't be suprised if they priced their kits just under what an aftermarket company would cost to keep competition and make some cash. I know they can design/build/sell parts cheaper than any aftermarket company can.

I wouldn't think they're THAT expensive. You can pickup 4 new Accel injectors (24lb flow rate) from Modern Performance for $140. Also, the ECU is just a flash of the existing one. Most likely will include a higher flow fuel map with increased stock boost and possibly slight bumping up of the redline.

yeah, there;s only 2 summits ( i think) and the other one is out west. the summit you saw is off of 76 on sr532. its prolly under 10 mins from that apartment i met you at.

ebb: there's no place to race there, its just their giant warehouse/store.
it'd prolly only be some sort of exhibition, unless im mistaken and they have a track hiding somewhere :)
