Well, if you take it somewhere, look up Samel's pictures and have a link. That way if they don't understand, you can tell them to check it out.

NO! It doesn't go all the way through the hood. (This should be an FAQ). THAT would look GHETTO.

The hole is just in the underside of the hood, so that air flows from the scoop to just over and into the airbox. There are lots of pictures on this site of examples. Do a search.

I would like to try this too and understand that the hole must not go thru the hood but do i have to cut a hole thru the airbox? I dont mind but isnt it sealed for a reason or can i remove the airbox lid or cut the hole on the airbox?

Read the above links. You do have to cut the airbox, and you seal it from the engine bay so no hot air gets in. These two links tell you everything you need to know. Sam used a rubber seal already sized instead of door weatherstripping like I used. If you can find that seal, use it, it's much easier than the stripping, and looks better.

oh no....

Hey, Pinkey, if you want to try this drop me a line.
Please, for the sake of your car.
If you want, I can help you this weekend. Personally, I want to wait and
see what kind of air-induction systems come out, but I'd be more than
willing to help you.

If you were to do the hood mod, and later add cold air, what would be the stipulations with that? Not too familiar with cold air. Would there just be the hole in your hood at that point going to nothing and the cold air shooting off down towards the road?

It's been said before, but i'll say it again. There is no need for a CAI on the SRT-4. It already stock pulls cold air from the fender well. Add that with the hood mod, and you won't need to get any more air into the system. The K&N will help a little, but running any extra duct work for a CAI is unnecessary. The system doesn't breath any air from the engine bay.

You'll be left with a whole there serving no purpose but to re-route some of the incoming cool air that would benefit going to the turbo. But that also will depend on what type of "CAI" setup you will eventually install. It's easier to wait and put some thought into it than to end up repairing an unused metal hole.
