Has anybodies heat shield that is mounted to the firewall above the turbo come loose or worse, fell off. 2nd day of ownership, I noticed it was halfway on. (DO NOT TOUCH IT WHEN HOT!!!!! It will burn u.) Mine is held on with an adhesive, so when the engine heats up it starts loosing adhesion. Took it to the dealer (their first time to actually see it) and had them check it out.
The service rep brought the certifed SRT mechanic out to look the problems over with us. He stated that it wasn't prepared (cleaned) well, or just crappy adhesive they use and that's why it keeps coming loose. He is going to prep the firewall and use a high heat silcone and see if that works.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but it gets very very hot above the turbo and could cause a problem. Everybody check it out and reply.

Thanks

Thread resurrection. Does anyone have a part number for this shield? Mine is starting to come off. The only way that I can describe the part is that it appears to be some kind of quilted aluminum and is rectangularly shaped. It is flat and some kind of adhesive was used to adhere it to the firewall.

My Chrysler tech gave me a part number of 5029422AB INSULATION, COWL FRONT. Vintage Parts had one in stock so I took a chance and ordered it. We'll see.

You must have been on eBay at just the right time- that one didn't come up when I had searched before buying from Vintage. Good for you!

I don't know why the seller didn't show the part number in the listing heading- that certainly would have been more helpful. I bought one from them and the listing said that there was just one left in stock- they must have found some more somewhere.

I hope that my part is genuine Mopar. I'm going to ask my Chrysler tech to compare it with my OEM one and, if it isn't a Mopar part (and if my stock one hasn't deteriorated much during its 16-year lifespan), I'll just reuse the OEM one.

They should be easily identified.

I wonder... The majority of Mopar parts that I have purchased over the years have either a molded Pentastar logo on them or a printed one, as well as a Mopar part number. This piece has neither, nor did the seller ship it in a white plastic Mopar bag or a "grocery sack" paper one with a Mopar logo printed on it. I want my tech to check the OEM one for a Pentastar logo or a Mopar part number; if the OEM one doesn't have these, then the new part just might be a genuine Mopar part.
