Grinding 2nd and 3rd when cold?

I think maybe DCX is trying to hide some tempermental problems in the transmission in cold weather. Thus the staged rollout in warm areas. Any of you other cold weather guys get grinding trying to get in 2nd or 3rd even when slowly trying to get in in gear not forcing it? It only does it for a while untill it warms up for 10-15 minutes. Then its smooth like butter. Other than that little nit I've had no problems. Ok just finished this and saw the other thread started while I was typing.

Mine will grind occasionally even after it's warmed up, I believe.

Does someone with more knowledge than I wanna combine these twothreads? I'm thinking we might have our first real problem, keeping it all together might help any lurking PVO folks.
I'm a newbie here but maybe some synthetic tranny oil would help with the grinding. Conventional oil will thicken up under cold conditions. Although I don't know with the car being new and all..... changing oil so soon. Again maybe a PVO rep will reply.
I hope its not like the 1st gen where you can only use mopar lube.I will check the service manual to see what you can use.
I've noticed mine is easier to put into gear when it's giving me shit by not pushing the clutch all the way to the floor. If its not sliding into place like it normally does, I hold it and let the clutch out a little, and it pops right in without grinding. Just an idea...
For all the guys with problems shifting:
Have any of you ever driven any car with a short shifter in it?

Reason , I ask, is that with my civic, which I had a short shifter with poly bushings, shifting would be a bit notchy at times for me, but I was used to it.

However when I let others drive the car, they couldnt shift properly , grinded(sp?) gears etc......

I will find out tomorrow when I get my car anyways.

The problem is with the tranny itself not the the short throw shifter. I know the tranny is going to be notchy or stiff I actually like it that way. Yet when the tranny is cold it sometimes will not upshift into 2nd and 3rd with out grinding. No matter how slow or fast you try to get it in, with the clutch pressed thru the floor, even trying to blip the throttle which you shouldn't have to do upshifting anyways it WILL grind untill the tranny warms up and then it's one of the best feeling trannies I've ever driven.
hey I checked the service manual it says the trans has atf 4 in it.so a good synthetic oil should work better?
my friend and i are about to install solid mounts shortly so we'll let you guys know if it cures any shifting issues
Great......now transmission issues..... SRT isnt looking too promising anymore :).....The old saying goes "you get what you pay for" starting to look that way now, i knew there had to be a catch as to how they would sell such a car at under 20k.
Mine was like that... Now, it's rather smooth. 2000+ miles on
Mine has been smooth in all gears since day 1. And its been in the COLD here.
It's been fairly cold hear since I got the car and no real problems shifting, as long as I get the shifter in the next gear before my foot comes back up
I get 2nd gear grindage regularly, 3rd occasionally.

I haven't decided what, if anything I'll do about it. Then again, I'm sure Dodge hasn't decided what, if anything THEY'LL do about it.

Almost 1200 miles on the clock.

I have some problems engaging 2nd gear first thing in the morning. It doest really grind but it is difficult to engage.
This is exactly what I get on the upshift. On the downshift, I get it going into 1st.

I just started grinding in second, grr and its not cold out.
I'm quite happy with my tranny, when I went to the track the other night, I only missed 1 shift all night. Whereas when I took my Spec V to the track I missing a shift what seemed like every other run  . It feels a hell of alot better too, it's a bit notchy but I'm sure that will go away with a bit of time.

My first shift into third is always real notchy and resistant but after the first shift of the night I don't really notice after that. It's still a little chilly up here, so I won't know if it's totally temperature related yet until it warms up.
