I was just interested in knowing what the real-world fuel efficiency numbers for the SRT-4 were? I would assume that they would be no worse than a PT Cruiser GT because of the reduced weight, but then again, there might be some really agressive ECU program... just wondering.

I drove the car from Florida to Delaware and I approx got 15.3 MPG and my avg speed on the trip was 72 MPH. The trip was 1100 miles.
15.3? Tell me that's a typo!

Do you think that number will change as the engine is broken in? I think the last numbers I saw were on the Dodge site at 29/36 mpg. 15 seems to be way off.

Nope, not a typo! I'll take a look at my gas reciepts tonight (I think I have them all) to verify, but I stopped plenty for gas. It should get alot better when the engine is broken in. The sticker says 22/30.

If you stay off the boost you can get better. From Miami, FL to Dayton, OH (~1250 miles) I got 24-26 mpg. I can imagine running boost every chance you get will net you the 15mpg listed above. SRT-4 Requires premium so I paid on average of $1.83/gal on the way back.

I drove mine easy from West Palm Beach, Florida to South Indianapolis, Indiana and I think I got right around 24mpg (roughly 300 miles on a tank.) I don't know exactly, but I'm remembering it that way....

We'll let it slide this time. Last I checked, the SRTforums standards aren't up to MENSA yet. If they were, we'd all be kicked out for our mispells, bad punctuation and grammar mistakes.

I bet if you tried, you could make it 15.3 mpg.... On the track, my SOHC ACR gets between 8 and 10 mpg....

People will think that it sux alot of fuel. I use to get over 300 miles per a tank on my supra. On the srt-4 i get about 230. But you need to take into account that it has a Porto Johnny size fuel tank, only 12 gall.

in my GT if i stay off boost i get any where from 17 being on it, all the way to 31mpg toodling around on the highway at 65-67 staying off boost the whole time. Very hard to do, but very easy as i commute 160 miles a day.. you learn to conserve gas. :p Sure it's a GT, but a very similar drivetrain setup and a bit heavier to boot.

I'm getting right at 20, and that's running extremely rich.

Of course I only got 13 on a quarter tank yesterday(not miles...runs.. )

Are you having the same fueling issue I am, with it running at 10:1 A/F?
Mine is doing that, and it's actually blackening the tailpipe. My thought is though, maybe chrysler has the ecu set to run that rich for a bit of extra protection from the factory. I've seen *numerous* other cars run pig rich from the factory, but most are high 10:1 to 11.5:1. *shrug*
I'll have to see if i can get a new MAP sensor in there, and if that fixes it, if not i have an AFC-II coming so that'll allow me to take care of that and fatten it up a bit from 3200-3800rpm...
