Boostedneonsrt4 and myself were headed back to Jacksonville from Extreme Boost in Orlando and we saw the worst wreck I have seen in a long time. It appeared to be three cars one was a Florida Highway Patrolmen well, what was left of the car was scattered through the woods I don't know if the patrolman died or not but I don't how anyone could live. Did anyone see this on the news?

I made a post about it yesterday over here:
http://www.sportcompactracing.com/vbulletin/t29130-.html

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...00304,0,2525072.story?coll=orl-home-headlines

"Haywood, a four-year veteran of the FHP and a retired New York City homicide detective, was honored as Trooper of the Month in July for pulling a person from a burning car. He is survived by his wife Linda, two children and a grandchild."

It was actually a bike racing a porsche...the porsche got away but the bike got caught after he pulled into a truck stop because of a flat.

Street racing, especially on a highway, isn't dangerous for anyone except the racers... c'mon, where are the people who love to defend themselves with that bullshit?

Everyone feels bad for the FHP officer and their family, but next week when some idiot posts about his race with an LS1 Mustang GTP (with NAWWSS), most of the forum will be congratulating him on his kill.

Who here is man enough to congratulate the Porsche and Bike racers on their confirmed kill? Memories of Goldfish...

No congrats here, I don't street race nor do I congradulate anyone for a "KILL" if thats what some want to call it. I'm 38, not saying that many of the younger guys here are not wise but I am. Its just common sense, take it to track.

I'm pretty sure that's the trooper who gave me a bullshit traffic citation once (really). There can't be too many older bald black troopers who drive a Z28 cruiser on I-4 in Orlando, can there??? Not that I'd wish that on him for doing so...

What the officer failed to realize is the radio is faster than any bike and any porsche ever made. If he were smart he would have radioed in for help instead of chasing them alone (in a z28!!). I personally dont think catching street racers is worth my life, but im sure he didnt sign up for this to happen.

I wish well for this guys family...for they are the TRUE victims here.

I think it was an extremely daring, risky, and foolish decision and I think it had a lot to do with the ego of the officer behind the wheel. It killed him and injured an innocent person, so in reality he didn't accomplish anything when he could've radioed to an FHP helicopter or plane or another set of cop cars up the road. Very stupid decision to try and chase a bike and do so in the emergency break-down lane.

Either way, I feel extremely bad for his family and hope for the best with them, like someone said earlier, they're the real victims.

Also, I heard that the guy on the bike will be charged with the cops death... I'm not entirely sure I agree with that at all. Anyone else feel the same way?

actually the cop wasn't chasing. He was responding to a report of a bike and porsche racing, and he spoted them. And his police chief said he wasn't chasing them, he was doing some tactic where they sneak up on the perp then turn on the lights. But it wasn't a formal chase (lights and sirens blaring). I have been following this story since i saw the accident scene.
