I have the same problem, I have to pull it up so much that the console needs to be opened and then shut after pulling it up. Even when I have it that high if I'm at a tilt of anything marginal it'll roll...
i hear ya, can someone help us?? im just gonna do it anyways but a pointer would be nice...
theres an internal drum for the parking brake in the rear that can be adjusted with a pocket screwdriver, but i dont recommend doing it if you dont already know how to. Try driving your car in reverse is a parking lot, not very fast, and then yanking the ebrake supposedly it will auto adjust after a few times.

WTF would be the point if you couldnt adjust them

I'll be damned. I didn't think there was a chance in hell this would work, but I tried it anyways. My parking break has never worked so well. Usually I'd have to try setting it 3 or 4 times before it would set. Now first time, every time.:thumbsup:
Take the rear wheels off, and then take the 13mm bolts off x2. Below the hub, there should be a starwheel. Turn that wheel so that the shoes will be out more (turb it up on the left side, and turn it down on the right side). Put the rotor on, and feel for some tension but not too much. Put the caliper back on and you're good to go.
:mopar:

yea, i have that problem too. the dealership said that it was okay, and that they couldn't find anything wrong with it... when i accelerate at a normal rate of speed, the damn brake light turns on and dings, it will do th in the first 3 gears and if i stop hard enough backing up too. its so fucking annoying!!!:crying::crying::crying: driving is no fun without the "happy handle"...
^ you just have low brake fluid.

no need to take off the wheels and calipers, just jack up the rear of the car and do it. Extremely easy, just check the how to.

thats odd indeed. i remember reading that our cars didn't have the self adjusting pbrake.
yeah i've read the same thing ^^ ... i guess its worth a try to see for myself

Service manual , BRAKES - BASE 5 - 15, Fig. 18 Drum Brake Shoes (Left Side Shown), 6 - AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER LEVER AND SPRING

but it wouldn't be the first time a manual was wrong...:readclose

Also, The backing up bit, only lasted for like a day, I'm back to a crappy parking break again...
did some more looking around in the service manual and the forums, here is the correct way to do this,

the stupid dealership said, "the parking brake is self adjusting, and we checked it out, everything is working fine." so... why is it that i can pull the thing up as far as it goes, and then go push my fucking car around you assholes?!? i miss my old escort, all you did was tighten up the screw at the end of the lever and you were good to go. and ill check on the brake fluid... thanks mang, later...
yes... brake fluid saves the day!!!:jester:
Okay, I spent all day yesterday dicking with the brakes and got it! The driver side went fine but the passenger side got stuck requiring me to rip off the brakes tho fix it.:flame:
