anyone recently installed and want to post impressions?

1) I know they are expensive.
2) I know it's easy to install the stockers.
3) I've heard that some posters had some install/fitment issues - I'd like to find out if those have been fixed.
4) I've already had to replace axles on my stock car and plan on going stage 3 soon....if I get to replace the axles once with the DSS axles, then this means less work for me later.
5) I am generally easy on my cars, with the occasional "fits of passion"...DSS may seem to be overkill, but I want to drive my car, not fix it:thumbsup:

Love to hear from recent installs what their impressions were and how well they installed vs. stock and any issues.
Thanks!

**edit** also, if anyone knows of alternatives to DSS (stronger than stock axles), that would be a bonus!

Not entirely true. We broke a few stockers on our 10sec car. we upgraded to the stage 3's and never had an issue. then we upgraded to the stage 5's just because. I have stage 3's on my car and havent had any problems. I run slicks by the way at the track too. To the orginal poster unless you really need them or want them i wouldnt worry about them. Excessive wheel hop is what breaks axles (stock or dss), that and not having limited slip. they're just as easy to install as stock ones. good luck.

I've had them for about 15k miles with no problems at all. I would recommend them for the peace of mind if you are going to be racing with slicks. I have the 550 hp rated ones, but will be posting them for sale later this week, since I'm trying to make a competitive STU auto-x car and the axles aren't legal. Also, didn't have any installation issues.

Havent had any experience with them. However i heard that they broke faster than the stockers as well. And it had something to do with Punching it in a sharp curve.

However wheel hop is what destroys the axle. I'd invest in traction bars before Axles.

A 2month old DSS stage 3 driver's side axle broke on me awhile ago....a HUGE manufacturing defect is the cause. There have been what you would call "bad batches" from DSS and some have posted up threads about it. DSS might have improved though as I haven't heard anything bad recently.

I purchased them about a year ago, they are junk. They didn't fit properly and had to be remachined. Please, do not waste your money.

DSS aside...

what alternatives are there?

1) is there a way to send out the stockers and get them built with tougher parts?
2) any others out there that make axles for SRT-4s "mad powa"?

Yeah, you're right about wheel hop - think that's what got my passnger-side axle (and may be doing it again...sigh) - I get a distinct pull under hard acceleration to the right that seems to be getting worse - I have es bushings and have already changed the axle and wheel bearing once (guess that makes me a "pro" at this, but gosh I did not want to be:crying: ). I just HATE doing things over.

They are junk, I am on my 2nd Drivers side, and the same one is now giving me crazy wabble. The problem is that the inner joint is not one piece, What they do is weld a short shaft into a female joint and the weld breaks from stress. There are other issues but thats mine, I dont go to the track and dont hop. So I am sending this one for rebuild again "warranty" then selling them.

They have not improved the design. They tell you that so you buy or are happy with the rebuilt one they send you. And not only that but when it fails at that point, the grease from inside the end leaks into the trans and contaminates the oil in it.
All of the other joints ends are better then the stock one, including the shaft, but until they redesign the driverside inner end and make it a true male end they they will keep failing at the weld.
