Just how damaging can that be?

If someone were to accidentaly crossthread their catch can and then drive around for 15 minutes, then have the car start a warning ding (but no light on the dash) and then notice their heat indicator is at the maximum rather than the normal 195.

Then open the hood and see a lot of oil around the catch can area...

PS: It didn't happen to me, but did to someone else! And it just happened, so I'm wondering exactly what they should do as they're pulled over on the side of an expressway atm!

let the engine cool....i don't really see how an improper catch can can make the car overheat but i say remove the catch can and return it to stock until you can figure out where the install went wrong

They've had the catch can on for months now. They've never had a problem with it until now. They emptied it yesterday and put it back on, but apparently crossthreaded it and it allowed oil to escape.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, I'm not sure how it'd overheat like that, unless it let a TON of oil out, but I didn't think it could... who knows, that's why I hope some expert posts here :p
